Installed my 3kGSK last night, followed the directions to a T. I even spoke with Harry from PDR regarding a couple questions i had. Got everything in and back together... My turbo was spooling faster, truck was pulling harder, but it would not rev above 2250. Got on the highway with OD off, and she pulled like crazy all the way to 3000 no problem. Talked to a few people, and it seems my arm is going under my plate... . does this sound right?? How do i fix that. The 911 problem, however...

Driving home from work today, im coming off the highway, slowing down, but the engine isnt. Pulling up on the go pedal does nothing. I stand on the brakes to avoid wiping out the car in front of me, and the RPM's start to fall. I get to a red light, and the revs finally slooooowly fall to 1250. I pull over, pop the hood, and pull the linkage back, and the monster calms down to normal. I couldnt find any wires or anything interfering with the throttle linkage. Pull the linkage to add fuel, and it stays where you stop it, then slowly revs down. Is there a part of the linkage i should be looking closer at?? Does this have anything to do with the arm going under the plate?? ( If that is happening?) I just hit my garage door because the front tires locked up, and the back were still spinning... didnt hit neutral fast enough?? Can anyone offer some ideas?? Can't really drive it right now. Thanks!!!!!

Lol thanks... . got my hopes up that someone had the answer for me!!

i think i found the problem... on the throttle linkage, closest to the firewall, at the bottom of the linkage... . theres what appears to be a place for a spring to sit... Can't find the spring... or where it appears to attach to...

Anyone... ?

Ok... . Oo.
Found where the spring goes.
Didnt find where it is.
Just found a diagram and parts list.
Throttle Tension Spring????? or.....
Throttle Torsion Spring?

Hope your spring issue is resolved. As to adjustment of the governor lever, I found info on this site as well as on Piers that helped me with mine. Go to http://piersdiesel.com/TechLeverAdj.htm for a diagram and instructions. Just be careful you don't back the screw too far and drop it down into the pump. It's a little tricky.

Good luck,

Dan

I just went to Autozone and bought a set of double throttle return springs in the help section for $2

my 97 had a 4k and no return springs... TOUCHY!!!!!

also, the throttle linkage was binding up... adjusting the linkage by rotating it slightly cured that

You might also check the throttle cable itself, they have been known to fray and stick with the throttle pinned. Happened to me in a customers truck! Boy was that fun running 70 and gaining and the throttle will not return. Had to shut her down and limp it back to the shop. Replaced the frayed cable and everything was peachy! Hope this helps, Jeremy.
