Forrest, he's like you with a 215 pump, 3K's are great 4K's are crazy in that pump but he could do that, timing and springs will put you in no man's land;)

I just figure if you're gonna do it, do it once... I don't wind mine past a self-imposed 3,400, but down the road as more mods come, it's one less thing I gotta change! :D

3K is SUPER EASY, go through the side plug on the pump behind the arm for the fuel shutoff solenoid.

4K requires 60lb valve springs to be installed.

Depends on how big your arms are. Scrawny little bird might say "SUPER EASY"; you might not. :D

not really... I don't have the 60lb springs... but I also don't wind it out past ~3400rpm... but, once the valve springs are done, I won't have to touch the governor springs.

It is pretty easy after you remove the shutoff solenoid and the bracket. The hard part is measuring the stud protrusion and keeping track of the little half moon key.

Not too bad if you are familiar with the pump.

I prefer going in through the side. Bosch put a nice plug just for accessing the springs. Tried it though the top once, but gave up and went to the side.

You already have the optimal plate so a little tuning with position and governor lever should make you happy.

I have the 60lb exhaust valve springs. Hd them installed when I had the exhaust brake installed by Vally Injection (BD dealer) in Abottsford B. C. In order to install the 4000 gsk springs do you also need 60 lb intake valve springs?

Thanks Dave Gardner.

My 3K will do 3400, no problem. I don't really know where it would level off. A lot depends on when the fueling peters out. A strong pencil magnet is a must to get all the stock parts out. The job is done in a pools of black oil, so you can't see the shims and retainers unless you suck the oil out - I didn't. It wasn't a bad job but more average size arms and fingers would have been nice! Craig

The 60 lb springs are needed to prevent valve float above 3600 rpm. That applies to both intake and exhaust valves.

I found an easy way to drain the pump oil. Pull the plug that holds the index fork.

for those who had and exhaust brake put on dont assume you have all 60lb springs you may only have them on one side check before installing 4k. would not want to float a valve above 3600 :)
