I turned up the star wheel and reved up the engine and it go's close to 3k,never noticed where it was before, the star wheel had been turned up some already, how can I tell if 3k springs have already been installed?
Turning the star wheel will not change your RPM's. Stock springs will only rev to about 3K and will start de-fueling while under load at about 2700 rpm. 3gks's usually will rev up to about 3600 rpm if adjusted correctly.
Don't know how you can tell if the springs were changed beyond how it performs. After I installed the 3K kit on my '98, the truck easily and quickly climbed beyond 3K. Before that it started flattening out at about 2600 and had trouble reaching too much higher under load.
The star wheel adjustment helps with acceleration before the turbo spools up but wouldn't be likely to increase top end RPM.
