Here is some sick stuff for you!

Auto, 3. 54 gear, 32 tall tire (265/75) OD at 3750 RPM... ... you figure the MPH, and I won't do it again!

Jim

Is that about a 140 !!! in a brick. Yea, i wanna go for a ride.

Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I held 115 for 3 miles one night... . Shut my passenger up about his 4. 0 ranger for two or three months. :D

Like I said it's 3rd Gear i'm really interested in making more use of. 80-85mph in 3rd and then bust to forth. Uh HUH :)

(Jim at piers)

"Here's the plastic, Do whatever it takes... . Faster, bigger, stronger. . just make it happen. I've got the rest of my life to pay for it. Just make sure when it's done. . I can say my **** is bigger than theirs. "

Sound about right? :)

That's a good one, it's actually not that bad but it was a stair step, I do make 50K a year in the Navy and I'm still single for now.

Not paying someone for labor is the catcher, it you do all of you building yourself (Twins ect) and the rest are parts it's not too bad but still expensive, remember my first set of Twins was over 2 years ago and they too were home built.

About 10K in tools ect in the shop!

so in other words if i want to find 800hp i need a divorce. or is it the process first and the divorce follows. :-laf

Na, I'm just one of those rare ones at 40 that is still single. She (the GF) doesn't mind it too much but a job for someones truck that involves me making money cost me a dinner... ... fair trade off.

Jim

So what do your EGT's look like at that high rpm or are you moving just large enough amounts of air to keep it cool? How much boost are you making? I am thinking that a GSK is next on my bombing list. Helpful to learn that the 4k can have some drivablility issues. the 3k's I take it are problem free. I will do the valve springs sooner rather than later, maybe even before the GSK. Either that or the dilivery valves, haven't decided yet.

JMHO on GSKs.....In 215 pump trucks

I added a #11 plate to an already very strong running engine. EGTS very controllable (under 1400 max) and no smoke on the top end of RPMS and speed. Max RPMS in upper gears around 3000

Added 3GSKS , (increased timing to 17 at the same time) and noticed EGTs now get pretty high (peg a 1500 degree gauge) above 2800, smoke very noticable from that RPM on up at (No change to plate position). Max rpms now around 3500.

Added #10 plate and 4 GSKs. Smoke to no end. EGTS peg 1500 from 2800 on up. Max RPMS 4400 + (that is as high as I went).

Took 4GSKs out as the rpm potential scared me if someone else was driving. I did have the heavier valve springs.

One of the last dyno runs before pulling the 4GSKs I had them run the engine to 4K in 5th (3. 54 gears, and 235/85R tires). Dyno showed 141 mph.

All the above had modified air intake (Amsoil filter or BHAF) and a 4" straight through exhaust or 5" duel stacks.

For the average power user (no sled pulling, drag racing) 3GSKs in a 215hp pump truck are plenty. And they do add EGTS as the lack of defueling above 2800 adds heat and smoke.

Sounds about right, one of the guys said he saw 146 MPH today from my runs.

Jim, I didn't get back to this thread for a day or two.

I just wanted to say that I didn't mean anything at all bad by what I said. . I was just playing around. If I wasn't still paying for my truck and in need of a post secondary education, i'd have a truck pushing massive power too.

I don't have enough flat ground here to even conceptuallize 146mph. :) I need the 4kgsk and a lockup switch. (and maybe a transmission someday)
