There will actually be three different versions of the diesel due to California regulations. Folks in California will only be able to get a 235 hp/460 lb. ft diesel. In the other 49 states you'll be able to purchase either the 250 hp/460 lb. ft standard diesel or the 305 hp / 555 lb. ft high output diesel.

They had this pic on another thread and got to be said that it was a "doctored" pic from some other web site. I do like it better then the 1500 though.

I *truly* hope that this is doctored a little. Those clearance lights on the BACK of the cab look a little hokey.



I'll take mine on the front of the cab right above the windshield, thank you very much! Other than that, it's a handsome truck. It's no 2nd Gen beauty, but it'll do.

At first glance it doesn't look too bad from that angle, but need a good side shot. The "belt-line" or body character line on bed and rear fender does not seem to match the cab, it (the bed) looks almost like the current version, what little can be seen of it. If the final product does end up looking like this, with missmatched beltlines, doubt if I will ever get used to it. The '61-63 Ford styleside was like this after their "unibody" fiasco. The '61-63' non-unibody's had beds on them from the '57-60 series, it was 1964 untill all the body lines actually matched up. When I was a kid, I used to see these trucks, thought they looked really weird, and figured the original bed must have rusted off (a Ford tradition in this area) and the owner just replaced it with a better although different year bed. I did question that idea in my mind as to why though an older bed would have been in better shape that the original bed. After I later did find out this was factory, I really found it odd, it was odd then, and 40 years later it still is.

This photo really appears to be computer generated in that the beauty rings on the front wheels are the same as those found on the pre 2000 duallys (only 4 holes) and the bed appears to be that of a second gen.

The clearance lights were probably computer added hence the reason they are not at the leading edge of the roof and instead are place at the roofline edge so as not to distort the color of the paint where the lights were grafted on this photo.



Does anyone know where this image originated?



If this is a Dodge rendering, I would have to reconsider the GMC.

I've been waiting for 8 years for Dodge to come out with a true four door crew cab with the Cummins but if this is what they consider to be a state of the art truck, Dodge and Daimler will lose my business.



(Are you Dodge marketing folks listening to this site?)

I hope my 2001. 5 lasts forever. I've been trading trucks for the last 5 years trying to get the right combination (5. 9, 5. 2, 2wd auto Cummins, 4x4 3500 5-sp, and current sig. ) IMHO the new configuration is coyote ugly. Remember in '94 when the new bodystyle was introduced? I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Not so with the 2002. Momma wouldn't let me trade again anyway... .

The Gen II trucks look awesome! Everyone I know says Dodge makes the BEST looking trucks. Even rabid Ford loyalists at work say that they would rather buy a 1500/2500 RAM over any Ford.



I doubt that the Gen III will get that kind of applause.

I'm glad that I own a truck now and didn't wait for the new one. I think that it looks terrible, but who nows it may grow on me. Hopefully they have some nice dress-up kits. There starting to make the mighty ram look like a dakota.

i personely think that is a cover up to get every buddy all shouck up, and to get reaction from the public. the missalignment of every thing should indicate "just testing," without covering it up in a wrap of some sort. its pretty smart marketing i think. just my pennys worth.

A Buddy of mine bought a 1994 Gen II as soon as it came out. He loved the truck and says that Dodge has had the best looking truck for a number of years. He says he loves the look of my 01 and thinks that the 2002 1500's look ugly.



The thing that makes the Gen II look so good is the definition between the hood and fenders. I live in a small county 15,000 people live here and there are MANY Dodge RAM Sport models. They sure do look good. The Dodge trucks also look MUCH tougher because they are higher off the ground.



All the 4x4 off road nuts love the solid front axle. The solid front axle needs to stay that way on a HD truck that is used to work.
