Question regarding trailer weight calculation and design?

Great Device I found

I installed my B&W Turnover Ball w/Companion 5th Wheel Hitch on Christmas Eve. Great workmanship, fit, and finish. Does the "Companion" feel strong and rigid - sure does.

One 4" hole in the bed. I performed the measurement according to the instructions (which I read 4 times before starting the installation) and everything fit perfect. The brackets and pieces all fit the frame perfect. B&W uses an anchor pin through an existing frame hole to lock everything in place.

By myself, took 2-1/2 hours to install.

I'll let you know more after I pull over a rough road this weekend.

The Pullrite Superglide in the picture was sold and being delivered to the new owner for his SWB F250.

To plug the 4 holes I got four 2" pipe plugs at the hardware store. They are like the old thermos bottle plugs. Two metel plates with rubber in the middle and a thumb screw to compress it. It does leave the thumb screw sticking up, but at least the holes are covered so junk won't get in the holes. I painted them black to match the Line-X.

Jeez, I feel so cheap. :( I've had the same Reese 15k Since '95 and have moved it from the '95 to the '98 to the '01. 5 and now it's in my '03.

Steve:

I was planning on moving my Reese/Draw-Tite to my 04, but decided to go the no-drill route. How was the installation in your '03?

It went in easier than in the previous trucks. The box frame removes the fear of drilling into the fuel tank, wire harness or brake lines. Fishing the ribbed neck bolts in with a guitar string was easy. I'm starting to get all teary eyed at the new 600. If I go for it, I'll re-install my 15k in it too.

Sarge---- my RV dealer welded my brackets, 16k Reese slider, per DC. Dealer will also install bolts with sleevs if customer requests. -----JIM

:--) REALLY??? Someone from DC said it was OK to weld the frame?? Do you have the link, or the documentation?? I'd like to see it. Thanks, Sarge

Sarge-----sorry for late reply, been out'a town. If you have Feb,Mar,Apr,'03 TDR #39, it refers to changes by DC to 2003 Body Builders Guide that gives guidlines for drilling and welding on frame rails. --------JIM
