Got the notice in the mail yesterday.

The problem is.... you might have a hand grenade in your steering wheel.

What your dealer will do.... nothing. Ain't gots no parts.

What you must do to insure your safety... close your eyes and hope you still exist after an airbag deployment.

The driver airbag inflator is not state dependant. The notifications are most likely being sent out in stages,we are doing them everyday-parts are in the system

If you are in the effected states\areas then your 2006 is part of it. The 95 uses completely different systems and is way out of warranty concerns.

In or out of warranty has nothing to do with recalls. If it's recalled it will be fixed regardless of warranty status. Offhand I am not sure if there is any limit to recalls by years passing as some of the vehicles in question can be over 10 years old.

FWIW Takata started using the 'unstable' ammonium nitrate in 2001. So anything before 2001 isn't a part of this concern. (It's possible replacement airbags for older stuff may have used ammonium nitrate, but, I am not aware of any examples.)

The States/Areas was an early BS cost savings and parts availability attempt that didn't hold up with the evidence. That is people killed in DRY California. So it's a worldwide recall now not limited to States anymore.

I took my Ram to the dealer for this recall. They fixed it overnight. Discovered Horns didn't work a week later. Removing the airbag revealed the horn switch disintegrated per mechanic but they neglected to advise me (why wouldn't a dealer call you to request more $$$ for a repair?). Took several days as wrong parts were ordered (how did that happen?), but in the end they DID NOT charge me anything. So all is forgiven.

@Big
I like the latest ECM Update that have done to my Truck, I runs now far smoother, a lot of noise has gone, the ticker sound close disappeared.
And there are 2 new fault codes that tell you if an injectors go bad before it burns a hole into a piston or flood the engine with diesel.

Anyone know anything about this update? Is this for real? I want anything that might help prevent melting down this motor!

Should be in all the new flashes from Dodge. It is a leak detection DTC that will notify and de-rate the engine power when calculations do not meet standards. It is the grid heater symbol and dings if you have been following some of the threads. Most people are cussing at it and want it gone. LOL!

Yup. I wasn't going to do mine but a company was using my truck for some testing and hooked up their tuner. Damn that tuners stock included that update

Airbag situation is very Frustrating! Picked up my seven year old granddaughter this week. Of course, she wanted to sit in the front seat with me. Totally forgot about the RECALL! Wife sits in that seat when we travel.....yes, down South. Been waiting for seven months now for the dealer to have parts. Meanwhile Takata is going downhill fast. Other Japanese auto manufacturers, whom Takata must sell to in order to stay alive, are dumping them.
Trade the '03 in and take a chance someone else's granddaughter gets hit by Takata flying parts? Wife says absolutely not...that would be immoral. Part out a perfectly usable truck so no one gets hurt?

I understand I'm and old grouch, but I don't understand why others aren't complaining the same.
I see it somewhat in forums like these, and once in a while mentioned on the street.
Am I the only one that wrote hate mail to their senator, house of representative, majority leader of each, their local governor and the NHTSA ?

They made the law where you break a federal law if you remove the bag, you as the owner or the dealer. Yet these insects write a law (or most the time the lobbyist does it for them) and never think of the what could or can happen in the future. The Founding Fathers did a document that has lasted over 200 years, but could never dream of an imagine of where we would be today or in the next 100 years. Yet they did good.

Yet these present day baboons never took the time to consider a moments thought of where we might be just a few years down the road. 'Potential problems' like this. With all the safety devices in the vehicle for todays market, a temporary removal of 'one' is safer than having it blow off in their face wounding or killing someone driving, with possibly the passengers and others outside the vehicle they can hit. All because no one wanted to take a moment to see if there could be something that might save lives.

NHTSA says there s a process where you as a person, or dealers can temporally remove the air bag, but with the paperwork and the approval time needed could take years to get. They have to do what the law specifically says, and can't add or change the law, just congress or the president.

And with the childish games politicians are at now, fat chance on anything for you and your family ... or anyones family safety.

Heck, all this and I finally get to have my first cupp of coffee.

The odds are greater that you will get killed crossing the street than by your airbag. If you can't get your recall done in a timely manner it is your dealers fault.Every tech in my shop is doing them daily.we are sending the the take outs back by the pallet load.If you think the risk to be hurt before you can have it done is so great disconnect it

Bob4x4, I'm not saying they are not changing them out fast, the volume is overwhelming.
To activate them is something as slight as bumping something at 5 mph to activate the bags.
To advocate disconnecting them is advocating people to break a federal law.
I asked the dealership to deactivate or removed until the new one came in and they said they will not go there, nor will tell anyone how to do it, or even suggest it.

Now, are you positive yours wasn't one that would break apart if activated ?
