I am thinking about picking up a set of take-off aluminum wheels and getting rid of the steel chrome ones I have. I have seen quite a few on Craigslist lately.

Have there been any problems with the aluminum ones? I am still debating between this and the H2 Wheels.

Thanks, Joe

I had a friend crack one pullin a d4 and a 4000 lb trailer. i dont think you call that a problem just way over weight.

I havent read of any problems other than they can be really hard to get off after they have corroded slightly to the metal hub. May be a good place for some anti seize.

I have 2 sets of the alum wheels for my '05 One with stock Miches and the other with 35x12. 5 Toyos No problems.

I have had 3 different sets of 3rd gen alloys. No problem with any of them performance wise. The polished alloys are a bit of work to keep clean and shiny compared to the chrome clad. They do scratch pretty easy.

There's two fabrication types. One is cast aluminum, not very spendy. The other is forged aluminum, very spendy. Both were available on the '07 options list.

Thanks for the reminder... ... Polished forged aluminum and mine clean real nice. But then again, the dealer is washing the truck free for the entire ownership.

I have damaged 3 so far off roading, but maybe I drive a bit harder than most, from what I have been able to gather the factory forged wheels are stronger than the h2's

I can vouch for that one. But after finally getting them off the first time I applied anti-sieze and haven't had a problem since.

They are supposed to grip the hub (not corrode in place, of course). Don't rely on shear strength of the studs. They are designed to clamp the hub to the wheel, so never seez is a bad idea.

2006 ST,QC,4X4,LB,G56,Jake brake,ultralinings bed liner,airlift air bags,988s,Toyo 295/70/17 MTs

anyone know what the weight rating on them is? there available cheep enough and i like the look. ive never heard of any problems with them. i was gonna put them om my 97 but the dealer made me take the whole truck:-laf

H2 Wheels will not fit the rear, at least not with the Dana 80 rear end. Center hole of the H2 wheels are 4. 5", the Dayna is 4. 68. That said if you want a set of chrome H2 wheels I just happen to have 5.

Have you done this, or had this done? Would be interested in your results. Other question would be the chrome finish - would it flake off after being machined (open edge).
