I'm considering adding rear air springs (either Air-Lift or Firestone Ride-Rite) for trailering. My '05 2500 4x4 has an MBRP "Cool Duals" exhaust system. Both tailpipes seem to pass pretty close to the rear axle jounce bumpers. Is anyone running an MBRP dual exhaust system with rear air springs on their 3rd gen? Any clearance problems with the air bags and the tail pipes? Can you post photos of your air bag installation?

Many thanks!

I don't have either but just put a kelderman 4 link air ride on my truck the top of the bag is about 4 inches from the exhaust side stock pipe. The ride is excellent and it took about four hours to install with manual fill I was working slow due to a broken leg and took another 5 hours to install the auto leveling device and the compressor. just another option Enjoy

PS I pull equipment on a 28 foot gooseneck no sag, sway or wheel hop on washboarded dirt roads

Q

I pulled a 34 foot 5th wheel to No. Calif. and spent 3 glorious months living in it. I have a 3500 4wd dually and when the trailer is unhitched it rides like a lumber wagon. I aired the front tires down to 55 lbs. but now I think installing air suspension would make the ride much better. Will it or will it be a waste of money and is this a product that someone that can turn a wrench will be able to do sithout spilling any blood?

Oh, one more thing, do any of you have any recommendations for wheel repacements for the stock wheels? I don't like the "skins" and would like to replace them with a solid mag type wheel?

RockinJ, I wanted to do the same install, however I could not get clarification from anyone selling the systems if it would clear my Ride Rite airbags. Mark at DPPI said he thought it would fit but was not very convincing. I ended up purchasing the MBRP single 5" turbo back system, I am pleased with the fit and the sound.

If the cool duels have as much clearance on the drivers side as this 5" system has on the passenger side it would be no problem, I believe you could make it work with some effort. I know that is still not a definitive answer, but I hope it helps.
