I just got my ATS manifold for my 05 and have some qustions.

Are you supposed to use the stock exhaust manifold bolts or was I or should I get a certain type of bolt??

Does everybody get new gaskets or do some reuse the originals? I read in directions it is ok to reuse so long they arent burnt, etc.

Thanks in advance

I prefer to not reuse the gaskets. Now, if they are only a month or 2 old, I might, but generally, I won't.

The manifold should've come with hardware. At least the 2nd gen ones do. If it didn't come with hardware, I'd probably use studs and flanged nuts, if there is enough room to do so.

I decided to get new gaskets. But what do I do about new studs or bolts? Anyone have the specs of studs/or bolts that would work. I plan on calling ATS tomorrow to see what they recommend.

As long as the multi layer gaskets are still in one piece go ahead and re-use them.

You are supposed to use the factory bolts with the ats 3rd gen manifold.

You can use all the stock bolts no problem, and the factory gaskets are ok to use also,

mine are on there 3rd manifold, no leaks

what the other fellas said, I re-used the gaskets and the bolts/spacers. 38 or 40 ft/lbs on the bolts, I think

hope this helps

Use your bolts and spacers if you can. I had to buy a new set when I installed my ATS because the shrinkage had began to force the bolt into the head. LOOOOONG process backing them out and not snapping them off.

I appreciate it fellows. Yea, I re-read the installation instructions and it finally jumped out at me about reusing stock bolts, also thanks for info on gaskets that were reused.

What did you guys do about the water line bracket ? I ended up cutting mine in half and bolting it back together with a bracket. Anyone that can remove that thing and put it back is shear genius! I reused the factory gaskets and

bolts with no leaks !

i've done 4 now and have reused all gaskets and bolts.

about the antifreeze line i heated it up and bent it in half on 2 of the the fist one i cut what a stupid design.

I drilled mine and then cut it. When I put it back together, I used a bolt, nut and two washers. It has not come loose after 30,000 miles.

bend it

I got behind it from the underside with a flat-bar and a block of wood against the engine block. Pry out on it and it will bend at the 90 degree angle enough to come off the stud. Leave it bent so that you can get it back on after replacing the manifold... it will straighten back out as you tighten it back up. FWIW
