Can you put a 3rd gen bed on a 2nd gen truck? Will it bolt up or did they change all the mounting points?? Also has any one done it how did it look Seems that it wouldn't be too bad but... ...

They're quite a bit different, I'm sure they won't bolt up because the frame shape is different and the frame rails are wider on the 3rd Gens. Besides, I think it would look too redneckish, especially if the bed's a different color ;)

Gez I had not thought of the multi color thing maby I can find some diff colored parts for the rest of the truck too:)

The main problem is getting a good replacement bed now. There are a lot of new take offs on the new models ( cheap) and you get a 4 year old (at best) one of the 2nd gen designs ( and most are like 6-8+ years old)

It looks like the major shape or the bed would "ok" the addtional belt line on the 2nd gens was removed from the 3rds design. I guess I should measure the width and heigh of the new beds to see how well it would line up to the cab

William...

Just jazzin' ya a little :)

There was a guy on NW Bombers with a perfect longbed off a 2001, was wanting around $700 for it. That was a few months ago. You might keep an eye on Craiglist in your area.
