i am at the point where i get worried about pushing out the rear freeze plug. my motor will turn 3500 and i am waiting for the 4000 smarty tune. i have bought a new water pump to clip the fins on. i have searched and found a few threads that say to clip two fins one across from the other. does anyone have any pictures? do you leave the ring that is spot welded to the top of the fins?

on the last note, i will be towing my toy hauler through the summer months will their be any cooling issues when i clip the fins?

Not trying to persuade you one way or the other, but are you aware of the coolant bypass kits that solve the freeze plug blow-out problem?

Enterprise engine is one place that sells them. Going this route, cooling capacity is not comprimised at all; rather, if coolant pressure reaches a set value, coolant is simply routed from the back of the block to the radiator.

there are also electric water pumps out now that will not allow too much rpm effect the pressures in the block. that may be another idea.
