WOW!!!! Don't know why I waited 3 months to get this thing! Talk about a time saver! I want to go drive around and empty the tank just so I can fill it up again! My wife used to gripe about going with me to fill up. This time she was like, "That's it? You're finished?" I think she is as happy about it as I am.

I used to DRIBBLE about 7 more gallons in after it clicked off the first time (fuel would be up to the top of the filler neck). Tonight I added about 1 more gallon at about half the pump flow rate. Thanks alot Dave (a. k. a. -Spooled-Up) for your work in putting this kit together.

I received the kit last week and spent the last 2 mornings driving around burning up fuel so I could get it installed in today ahead of a trip I have to take to Atlanta later this week. I'll tell you this, I drove about 4 or 5 miles past when the DTE indicator hit 0 and there was about 6-7 gallons of fuel left in the tank (filled one 5 gal bucket and a second about 1/3 full when I drained the tank). I put that same 6-7 gallons back in the tank to go to the filling station (6 miles away) and crammed another 36. 5 gallons in the tank. That makes about 42 gallons of fuel.

The install was pretty easy, biggest pain was getting the middle fuel line off. I think I cussed every engineer at DC and anyone else that I could think of. That and getting the retaining ring back on the fuel sending unit (had to hit it with a heat gun per the instructions). It took me probably about 2 hours of actual work to get it done by myself (wife helped me dump the tank once I dropped it). I of course had to wash the tank off and clean the tank straps and everything so in reality it took me about 5 or 6 hours to complete it.

I made one modification to the install. Instead of leaving the factory vent line on and capping it, I cut a short piece of the new hose off (maybe 4 inches or so) and put the cap in that. Then I removed/replaced the factory vent line with that. I also ran the vent line inside the frame rails above the top of the fuel tank.

Thanks again Dave for a great job with the kit. Nice kit, great instructions.

Those of you still taking 20 minutes to fill up your trucks NEED this kit!

Jeff,

Even with all the frustration of getting that middle fuel line off I still think the kit is completely worth it. The '05. 5 and up guys with the newer tank modules have it easy with the fuel lines spaced out to the sides. I can't imagine life without the kit, and I think 400+ 3rd gen owners feel the same! I really appreciate the good response I've gotten from the people that have the kit. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy the kit!

Heck yeah, completely worth the minor install troubles!

I just wish I had ordered it as soon as I bought the truck. Although if I had done that I would have no appreciation for how great it actually is!

I think you and I were cursing that fitting at about the same time! I did my vent mod this past weekend and that middle line was the WORST! I finally wised up and used a piece of string to pinch the connectors together and it came right off. Lifting the fuel tank back up by myself (laying on my back while trying to position the floor jack with my foot) was yet another challenge, but a few well placed curse words did the trick!! :)

My thanks also to Dave for a super nice kit and instructions. The components are of very high quality, especially that hose!!!

I'm glad that trick worked for you. I'm sure I even cussed the guys who got the zip tie trick to work for them. I tried the string and the trick with the zip tie and neither one would work for me. I'm not real sure how it finally came loose but it did. I couldn't get the string or the zip tie to catch the bottom clip.

As far as putting it back by myself, Like I said I had my wife help me drain the tank through the new vent hole. Once it was empty it balanced real nice on the floor jack. Not to mention it was super light!

I recieved My kits Monday and installed the first one Tuesday. Install went great and was easy. The freakin connector on the fuel line did suck though. Ive always hated those things. Sometimes they come off easy and other times they are a PIA. Ill be installing the seond one on my friends truck in the next few weeks. Great product and great service!

Ok so where and how much? I am ready to make the purchase for this kit today. I am a new transfer to the CTD from a PSD and all I had to do on it was cut a vent line. I was surprised at how long it took me to fill all the way up the first time with this truck.

One trick I found in dropping my tank 2x (didn't get the sending unit ring on straight) for the F$#d was to use an ATV jack. It had a nice flat area to support the tank.

Absolutely best mod I have done to my truck. It is so cool that Spooled-up sells this product at such a reasonable cost to his TDR buds!
