I've got a 3rd Gen ram and I'm looking for an Ipod solution. I know what deck I want (Alpine 9857), and I know how to hook it up. I just need some sort of mount or location to put the ipod that is not unnatractive. I've seen some mounts on the internet but they all looked strange or blocked the vents.

I'm also looking for feedback on speaker/sub setups that don't cost a fortune but sound great (if you know what I mean). Thanks!

well i have the same deck you do and i just put my ipod in the underneath storage that is directly underneath the deck you wont need to touch your ipod anyways so it doesnt matter if its out of sight. As far as speakers i went with some fosgate 6x9s in the front and 5. 25 rears then i got a MTX thunderform box and 2 JL 10 W0s... this system sounds pretty good IMHO and it wasnt too expensive. If you are interested i have some Focal front and rear speakers for sale they are a great speaker only used for about 6 months but i got rid of the truck that they were in. hope this helps

I wound up using the iPod2car adapter and hooked it to my factory head unit. I didn't want to mess with an aftermarket stereo and stuff like that. With that particular adapter you can either scroll through the songs on a playlist using the head unit or you can use the iPod itself, so I wanted easy access to it while driving. I wound up running it into the center console so that it stays out of sight. I don't have the power port in my center console so I just used that hole to run my cable through. If I had the power port I would have just cut another hole and put a grommet in it or something.

Good luck.

I had the stereo shop route mine directly into the glove box so it's out of sight. I also set up a Sirius Satellite unit just to the left of the glove box and used the hook right there as a mounting point. Seems to work well for me.

If you have the standard one CD deck, it should have an auxilary input in the front. It's a 5 dollar wire from Radio Shack. But, since you're going with the aftermarket deck, I would just hide the thing underneath the center console. I find I rarely, if ever, need to take the iPod out other than when I'm going for a jog.

check this out its on promini or outmotoring .com i forget where i got it from but i got it for my mini and it works well in the glovebox on my ram
