Hello Guys

Greg fron Desert Racing Concepts made me a smoking deal on one of his original light bar prototypes. I had it powdercoated and installed it this weekend. Although you can't get one exactly like this, I wanted to post pics so all of you could appreciate the quality of this unit. Great job Greg #ad

Looks good! I've been wanting one of those, just don't like the fact that you have to ditch the tow hooks. My truck came w/o 'em and then I bought/installed them, then to turn around and take 'em off. AHH-AHH;You get what I'm sayin'? I was also lookin' at the Randy Ellis Design (1. 5 Mi. from my Apt. ) you can keep your tow hooks, but I like the look of yours better.

Blake,

The tow hooks were/are useless. My 30k snatch-em strap won't stay on the hooks. This bar is very beefy. I wouldn't hesitate to hook my strap on to it. That is considering the fact that i will not hook anything large/heavy to the front if i don't have to. All the heavy work is handled/hooked to the rear.

Bertram,

That one looks nice also. What lights are those and how well do they work. I ordered some KC Highlights Slimline 130 watt lights but they are on backorder. And don't know how long they will take to come in.

Anyone want a pair of tow hooks less mounting hardware. $30

Thanks and best regards

DD

The lights are Dick Cepek Super Off Roader, bought 8 of them on eBay for $140, they were brand new in the box, the seller was "streetrodparts4u" he had quite few sets for sale, from 2 lights to 10 lights. They are 130 watts each, they are crazy bright when all 4 are on, I had to use two 30 amp relays to control them, I have all 4 on one switch. I figured for $140 for all 8 how could I go wrong, so far they have been great, I could not find any site for Dick Cepek so perhaps they are out of bussiness.

Bertram,

You got a smoking deal considering the KC's are $100 a pc. Whatcha doing with the other 4 ;)

Matt,

Them things are hideous thats for sure.

You loose you tow hooks right?

So can you yank a diesel ford out by it? (throw a tow strap around the end and tug!)

Because when I go mudding with buddys (I stay on firm ground, you know) -- I am always the one that pulls people out, So i need those hooks

I found a short cap that would press into the front hub to cover the axle nut, I was gonna chrome plate it and add chrome lugs but couldn't figure out what to do on the rear. I may buy new wheels just cuz of that ugly hub cap. :(

Really nice looking light bar BTW.

Ask Kent Kroeker about that one Tom,

I think he stated that in the Baja 500 he pushed, pulled, bashed, yanked, jacked, and used it for anything he needed. Great reviews and Baja testing all wraped up in one weekend.

I have lifted my truck off of the ground with a crane. Just hooked onto one side and started to pull.

Greg

P. S. Looks great Dan! Enjoy!!

Diesel Dan,

Do you ever take your shell off? If so do you ever get stopped for not having commercial plates? It would be nice to save the $$$ for commercial plates every year.

On one of the 8 the bulb exploded as soon as I turned it on, the bulbs are the small replaceable type that are held into the lamp by a stainless steele clip, all the fragments from the bulb fell out but there is a little residue left on the reflector. The other three are sitting in my garage, how many would be interested in?

EEdmondson,

No, the shell is on their for good. I heard the fine for the first offense is $1200. I do my DMV work thru AAA and they said that i can't even carry a ladder in the back. Yea i am going to listen that  The fee's went from $478 to $245 for this and it is well worth it. Besides if it doesn't fit in the back i just put it on the trailer :)

Matt,

I just cleaned the rust off all of the hubs w/ navel jelly and painted them w/highheat paint and they look good IMHO. Toomuch size diif between the front and back.

Tomeygun,

Turn your truck around and pull from the back. Much stronger gears in the transmission pulling in forward gears. Especially w/ an auto trans(old habits never die)

Best regards

Bertram,

My lightbar only holds 3 so this sounds promising. Two things i need to know. 1. are they 6 inch lights? if so how tall are they from the mounting tab to the top of the light? and i need to check status of the backorder as they have been prepaid for. I can probably get my money back for them as they are late but i need to check it out. Let me know

Thanks

DD

The lights are 8" round and just over 9" high from the tab to the top of the light. I had Hella 500s on for a day a two but they looked so small and out of place I went looking for 8" or larger lights and took the Hellas back.

Bertram,

Thanks for checking but i am limited to 6inch lights because of the hoop. I guess i will have to wait for the KC's to come in.

Have a nice weekend

Blake, does the Randy attach under the bumper, or thru the same opening as the hooks? Thanks, Doc
