3rd gen running board pics?

Anyone use running boards instead of tubular steps? Those are all I ever see. If so lets see some PICS!! Oo.

Check out aztruck parts they have Pics of what you are looking for. Also in some of the tdr mags some readers have pics of running boards. Do a web search for running boards and you will also see boards on different trucks. one added source is summit racing parts. Just some Ideas.

those hummer wheels look great!! running boards are old hat, tube steps look much better, I got mine off ebay for $179 shipped to my door, they are stainless too

I like the steps vs. tubes for the rock/water protection factor. .

running boards are old hat, tube steps look much better.

Too each his own. I happen to think just the opposite. And it depends on how you use your truck. I have a QC DRW and think that running boards look much better than any kind of a tube set-up.



Tube set-ups are for body protection from big rocks, stumps, things that get run over while off the pavement, and some help getting into the rig. Just becareful of the mud and other junk that might be on those round bars, might be slippery. Boards offer help getting into the truck, protection from rocks and gravel kicked up by the tires, and looks.

I think the tube (Smitty Built exhaust tubing) steps look cheesy and the tread brite steps look old hat Barden bumper style.



I've seen an older woman try to get out on tube steps and her foot slipped between the rocker and the tube, on a lifted truck. It ended in a brutal face plant that I'll never forget, very sad.



IIRC, the factory ding on the running board was ... ... ..... get ready... ... ...

$900.

I'm sure they could be had for cheaper on eBay, I haven't looked.

For that price you could drop a couple hundred more dollars for the Amptrol (sp) autosteps.



CC, the H2s are even sweeter with some nice tread on them.

Enough said about the round tube slippery issue.



And for that price, the SS Stulls are only about $400 more and that was for the tappered dually boards with the flaps. Cheaper for the smaller boards.

For those that need help getting into the truck definatly running boards are the answer my roomate has CP and there is absolutly no way he was able to use a nerf bar. I have the very overpriced auto running boards since I do not like the look of any type of side step the side benefit to these is that they come down much lower than any other so you have a true half way there step to get in with. Just an opinion.

Dont have any pictures yet, but we have the AMP Power Steps on order, just like the ones mentioned by MCrossley above. They are VERY pricy when compared to any standard type of running boards or nerf bars (in the $1100 range), but these do not lower the trucks clearance height underneath, and they extend lower for easier entry as well. In addition, I have noticed how some running boards, just by design, can promote rust by trapping water along the pinch weld strip/rocker panel area. These units dont mount that way, and I think that will help in the long run. We shall see.

I have the Challender Series from DEE ZEE, check out R/R's... I like them, they protect the side of the dually finder... Back home in New Mexico with miles of dirt roads, well worth the money!
