Hi All,

Looking for anyone who has done a 3rd Gen seat install in a first Gen. I have my eye on a set and was wondering how much work is involved. Do I need to make special brackets? Do you like them in your truck?

Thanks!

Mike

Get the seats and bring them to me and I'll build some brackets then install them in my truck and I'll let you know how it goes. LOL! I've been wanting to do this myself but find it difficult to set 500. 00 aside to play with. SteveinAZ

Hey SteveninAZ,

Actually... . I may have to take you up on that one (sort of :). Would you be willing to help me build some brackets? My fabrication knowledge is on the novice side and tools are non-existent! (got stolen). I can come to your place in Glendale or where ever. We could document the procedure and put the results on TDR. I am a computer engineer by day and crazy car/truck nut by night. I can help you with any computer needs you may have including software. Let me know... . I haven't gotten the seats yet, but I hope to get them.

I'm a computer retard, but I can build a cool roll cage for one . This just might work out! P. S. I have plenty of fab tools. SteveinAZ

Hi Mike,

You mention using 3rd Gen seats, but you might want to consider using 2nd Gen seats instead. There are more of them available in the salvage yards, and IMHO the 2nd Gen seats are more comfortable than the 3rd Gens. I used leather seats from a '96 Ram when I upgraded my '92 W350. That truck has been sold, but you can still see the pics in my Reader's Rigs gallery. My latest truck is an '03, but I still prefer the upgraded seats my '92 had.
