Competition results from TTPA pull in Caro, MI 7-26-06

3rd Gen Win and Sixth (now with Video!)

Win Friday night (kept RPMs up); and 6th Saturday night (dropped RPMs off the line didn't get them back).

Stong pulls though.

One HUGE problem. It appears mine (and many other) early '03 third gens are flat-lining power at 2300/2400 RPM. I build great numbers; consistent with my truck's build; until 2350 RPM. Then it FLAT LINES to redline. It isn't the dyno -- you can watch it happen. You can hear the power build; steady roll of smoke; then insta-clean burn the fuel's being limited. My HP/Torque is flat at whatever I can get to by 2350 RPM.

NOT a fuel problem. Does it with NO comp boxes. We're talking same dyno curve at 300hp as 500+hp. If it was a fuel issue the dyno curve wouldn't match at 300 vs 500. I'm assuming 500+hp burns more fuel... so shouldn't be the same curve.

I suspected my APPS and swapped it before Friday's pull and it seemed to help; but I don't think it's quite fixing the issue. I have plenty of fuel to burn but it isn't pushing it (computer isn't sending it) all the way up the RPM curve.

What in heck signal flat lines the power curve at 2350/2400?

So not only am I working with low RPM (3rd Gen) ... it's WAY low ... it's pretty much impossible to keep it lit for a full run.

This '03 truck is driving me insane.

Here's the videos:

3rd Gen Owensville Win on Friday That was me goosing the throttle to get the clutch to grab.

Sled Pulling in 4lo or 5lo depending on the track.

Dyno'ing in direct drive at Jon's (Floor-It Diesel) mostly. 800 to 3100 rpm in direct drive (5th).

Say you are pulling 2hi what rpm do you come out at and what rpm do you maintain down the track? Does it drop off at the end?

(I am trying to understand)

It bounces off of 3600 (Smarty beta) and I -think- it held at about 3400 on Friday. On Saturday I launched it really hard and it dropped off and never came back over 3200.

Jon had to 'take back' the Smarty load after the race... so anxiously awaiting mine!!!!! Go Marco Go! I'm back to stock ECM... talk about a lot less throttle response. lol

What you are experiencing is just how different tracks and gears load your engine.

Some track/gear combos will allow you to run on the governor and some will load your engine down and pull down the r's.

Sounds completely normal and mine does the same thing.

The only cure for this is more POWER and rpm's that way as you start to lose them you are still way up so its not so bad of a loss.

Nice looking hook in MO Mark, sorry I didn't get to talk to you. . Le Rae (my GF) was talking to your wife though.

Sharon mentioned it. Said LeRae was really nice to talk to. Man... tough break on your truck getting hit. Was that last month? Glad you have it fixed up, running and competing again.

Cool.

Yep, it got hit in Tampico Indiana, Saturday during Indy. I should have gone to Hazelwood.

As far as getting it fixed up, you are darn right. . God knows I've broken enough stuff lately.
