Yeah we both need alot more fuel.
Mark, Looks like your launch is improving.
And then I went to DHRA pull in Reedsville where you were penalized for a good launch.

The sled's gears locked up faster and spikes dropped faster (not just faster; earlier on the track) the better you pulled. Note the skidding sled before 100 feet... . guess I was already moving too fast.

I shoulda walked it in 1st gear low.

Live and learn. I hear some pullers like it
I'm trying to be nice about it but driving over 2000 miles to get penalized for pulling too fast pisses me off. I guess I'll chalk it up to inexperience on my part but it doesn't make any sense to me. I like to learn from my screwups because I want to get better at this but every time I study it I arrive at the conclusion it was a random pull event.
Better launch = earlier sled gear down and faster spike drop.
Faster speed to drag farther after spike? see above
Slower track speed = maybe dead stop when spikes drop
Spikes drop in dirt so skid/slide = long pull
Spikes drop in rocks = yer' done (mid track = yer' done... can I pull again?)
...
too random to be worth the trip
The best pull for that track/sled was med/slow pull on left side of track.
Did I mention the track was rocky? With a spike dropping sled.
HOWEVER... great venue since the fans were absolutely awesome and great community. Everyone there put forth a great effort to have a good show. It would have been a great all around event if it was a weight based sled.
Who knows; maybe I'll figure out how to keep my rpms up and speed down for the next time I'm up against a speed based gear down and spike drop.
