Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 3rd generation intercooler mated to 2nd generation truck?

Has anyone ever used a third generation intercooler on their 2nd generation truck to help combat high temperatures? It's something that I've been thinking about doing to my 98 12v. However I'd rather not reinvent the wheel doing so. Anybody heard of someone doing what I'm contemplating doing?

I think I'm going to barrow a stock 3rd gen intercooler from a friend to see if I can get it to fit some how. I know of a company that will make me a custom intercooler should I decide to do so as long as I give him the correct specs. I'm in the process of designing a custom front bumper that has specifically placed air passageways to allow the air to flow through the bumper in order to allow the maximum amount of air to pass through the intercooler.

I'd look into the BD intercooler; much better design expecially for high performance with its extruded cores.
