Just Do It . . . . no regrets here!!! Oo.

Traded my 01. 5 last week for an '05. Both are excellent rigs, but the '05 has much better steering, suspension and brakes. Also, the cab is tight and quiet (almost "too" quiet). I do miss that classic 24-V clatter on my 2nd Gen, though.

Any thoughts out there on how to get a 325/610 to start sounding like an earlier 24-V ??? This thing almost sounds like a well muffled gasser!

congratulations Frank  , these trucks are a different animal compared to the second gens we traded in, but the third gen is growing on me. We just need to figure out how to mak'em rattle a little under the hood Oo. Next time at Bennets we can compare notes on our 3rd gens instead of our 2nd gens

'01.5 to an '05

The difference between an '01 and an '05 is about the same as going from the first gens to the second. The quiet and the 325/610 power of the '05 is very impressive. I agree with those that urge you to consider the dually for a camper. The fenders do not stick out farther than the mirrors and only in tight parking lots and maybe a few drive thru's do the fenders become a consideration. The '05 3500 4x4 is rated at 12,200 pounds gross vehicle weight up from the '01's.

Do it! You'll love it! I miss the rattle sometimes from my 01', but now I kinda like that I can hear what the kids are whispering about in the back seat.

I join the list of those who went from 2nd to 3rd gen and miss the noise but I do not regret giving up my '00 2500 for the new one. Well... . kinda  ... . the 2000 was in top condition when I traded it and had more of a "diesel" character, and I miss not having truck notes. Overall, I'm glad I got the '04. Sometimes the noise of the '00 was annoying. I'd do it again.

Have to say I agree with the group here, I traded off my 02', the sound is the only thing I miss. I will turn 1000 miles tomorrow and will pull my fifth wheel which will really tell me if I like it as much as I think I do now. I'm glad I made the switch!

:)

Frank,

I traded a 2001 loaded for heavy towing for a 2005 3500 4x2 with everything except the navigation system. I had the Banks system on the old one and went with Edge on this one. I believe it handles the increased performance better and everythings works great. The leather seats in the 2001 were more comfortable than the 2005. I have 17,000 miles on it and everything is working great.
