I have the 2004 Dodge CTD SRW long bed Quadcab with the auto transmission and bought it new. I bought it with the trailer package and a 3. 73 AAM 11. 5" rear end.
It came with a stock Dodge factory wheel/ tire combo of 285/80R17 "E" and rated at 3415#. The wheels are chrome clad steel. The truck GVWR is 9900#.

I hope that helps.

I'm assuming you mean 285/70/17?? Still, that's not a factory combo, it may be dealer installed but not factory. The only 285/70/17 tires from the factory are on the power wagon, and they are a "D" rated tire.

Take a look on your door jam sticker and I bet it shows a different size.

I am correct - they were "E" rated ties with a HUGE footprint. As far as I know they were a factory installed set of wheels and tires and NOT special ordered. I bought the vehicle off the showroom floor as it came from the factory. Each tire was rated fro 3415# !!

Your going to have to show some proof here, like the sticker in the door jam and the make/model of the tire. I can't find a single tire offered in 285/80/17. I am 99. 999999999% positive that they were a dealer installed option, not OEM or factory (and the door sticker can prove that).

Tire rating is only half the story, the rim rating is the other part. You can put a 4000# rated tired on a 2000# rim and you still only get a combo good for 2000#'s. The most Dodge will admit that the stockers are good for is 3195#'s.

Here are all the tire options for 2004.

I was mistaken on the Power Wagon tires thou, the PW wasn't offered in 2004, it started in 2005.

I went and looked at the original sticker that came on the truck. The actual tires I got were 265/70R17 "E" rated at 3415# for each tire at 80PSI. Sorry. I don't have them any more since I upgraded twice. Once to Discount tires of the same size and since then to Rickson 19. 5" wheels and load range "G" tires.
