It looks like the 17's will fit on the 2nd generation. There is one in town with 2003 wheels and a modified exhaust that goes through the alley outside my window everyday... . it helps me get through the day.

By the way, it looks sharp with the wheels.

I just installed a set of 2003 chrome wheels on my 1996 2500 last night. The wheels appear to fit just fine but the new center caps will not go on because they hit the rear axle.

marcus at bullydog has the 03 alum wheels on his 2nd gen,,,looks great and even has the 03 centetrcaps off the alum wheels

3rd gen wheels on a 1999-down 2nd Gen will set in towards the body about 1" closer than the OEM wheels, due to the change in offset, which might lead to rubbing if you put larger tires on.

So, a 2001-2002 have the same offset as a 3rd gen?

Not a good picture (or truck) but here's my 03 alloys on my 94.

Lug Nuts?

Got a set of 04 Alloys yesterday. $550 with the BFG tires. Fit perfect on a 01 4x4. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lug nuts. The old 16" wheels look to have more of a taper at the lip of the holes.

Is it safe to use the 01 lug nuts with the 04 Alloy wheels?

Thanks

YEP. Actually 2000-2004. 5 is the safe offset & backspace specs, 6" backspace. '94 to '99 match each other, I think backspace is around 5-3/8"?? Not sure.

Bighammer, I would be interested to see a shot from the side of your rig to see how the tires set in relationship to the fenders.

My brother got a 01 and I was going to swap him wheels with my 95 but the 01 wheels wouldn't fit on my truck on the rear. The rim hit the drum before it went all the way on.

There's a set of 3rd gennie wheels for sale for $400 at the Vacaville Dodge dealership, if anyone in the area is interested...

Wheels only, no tires.
