Hi folks,
Here's my problem...
Noticed a slight musty smell and a bit more vapor on the insides of the windows than I thought should be there after a rain.
The carpets never felt wet from the top. I finally got around to removing the molding and lifting the carpets and yes the padding was wet on both front seat positions. We just had a few inches of rain. No puddles in the truck, but the padding did seem to absorb the water.
The padding where the rear seat passangers' feet would be is dry as a bone
From what I thought I remember reading, this can happen if the rear 3rd tail light/cargo light leaks, correct?
I took a look at the light and the middle of the light bows out when the two end screws are tighten down. Guess thats the leak? I removed the light and it was real dirty on the body where the gasket contacts it and the space inside the roof of the truck has a lot of road grime. So it makes sense that the light was leaking. Took out the RTV and seal it up.
I also read some comments about water being trapped in the door (like all my fords)... my drain holes are open and I don't hear any water sloshing around in the door during or after a rain.
Anything else to look for, or does it seem like sealing the cargo light should take care of the wet front floors?
Thanks folks. .
Bob
