2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd stoplight wiring

Hi guys,
A couple weeks ago I picked up a shell for my 98. 5. Going into the rear lamp housing I hooked up one wire to the black wire(grd) and the other wire to the green wire(stoplight). However when I turn on the left directional the stoplight starts blinking but works ok when just applying the brake. This apparently isn't quite right. Does anyone know where I should tie this wire in? Any help will be appreciated for what should have been simple.

The 3rd light signal has to come from the stop light switch:-laf NOT the lamp

On my 99 I had a white wire marked CHMSL (center high mount stop light?)tucked up on the driver's side underneath the bed by the left taillight that I tied into for the brake light.

I think it is a white wire with a brown or gold tracer... . I taped into it back by the 7 pin trailer plug for a 3rd brake light in a cap. It is hiden under the plastic tubing...

The tagged, white wire was tied up right between the frame and the spare. Thanks again!
