Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 3rd vp44 in 4 weeks

I had a thread a few weeks ago. i replaced the pump on this truck- the first one was a bad pump-sent it back and the second one worked great. he reinstalled his blue chip fms (runs it about 33%). it has been FOUR WEEKS since i put this pump on. it has a fass 150 filters are new. today he called me saying it had a dead pedal- my scan tool pulled p1693 and p0216. started and ran it for a while- it idled rough but would rev pretty smooth. after i killed it i checked it again and 0216 and 1693. WHY ARE THESE PUMPS DYING?? i don't understand

Check for a restriction in the fuel return.

Look for rust or other contaminants in the return line check valve.

Where are these failed pumps coming from?

midwest diesel is rebuilding them. Ive called my sales guy to see what the problem was. I took the filter and water separator off and dumped them-nothing out of the ordinary. a few particles just big enough to see, no visible h2o. Poured somestanadyne in the filter and put it back on

I've heard of other people getting bad pumps from Midwest latley. Seems to be a problem.

my truck is sitting at ododge right now for an injector pump i was going to buy it fromdiesel injection for 998. 95 and let dodge put it on has any one had a problem with there pumps?

My pump set the death code as well,but I am going to try some of these fixes as well as well as the apps connectors described in Gary's thread. My truck dead pedaled when driven easy on flat ground,but is an absolute monster going up steep grades. No problems at all if I drive 55 MPH in 5th gear or 70MPH in 6th. It has been suggested by a few people on the TDR that the throttle position sensor problem may trigger a death code. I hope that my risk taking by not replacing my i. p. right away does not result in a stranded truck. It pulled Jellico mountain like a champ,passing gassers that passed me on the flats, and got 19. 2 MPG loaded at 12000 GVW. Best mileage that I ever got by far ,but I have not checked mileage in quite some time
