Biodiesel vs diesel

Half Pay-At-The-Pump

No. Crude oil isn't trucked from a tanker to a corner gas/diesel station. Crude oil is refined first.
Harvey

Thats what i meant. There is a port and refinery...

If the governement cared one whit about us they would clean up their act, drop the insane fuel taxes:{

Sounds good but if you want a highway system to drive on you need $ to fund it:p

Automatically assuming someone is un-educated is plain rude in my book. He is entitled to what ever opinion he wants, thats the beauty of America... Im no anti-American by any means but why do you assume this it the greatest country in history? Why are so many Americans tragically lacking in education if this is the greatest country in history?? Open your eyes and you will see that oil is only one problem with this great nation.

What are these prices doing? They are enciting change. It is leading the way to new efficiencies and alternate energies. Oil isnt going to last forever and we cant wait untill its gone to figure out what to do next.

As rbattelle said, " do something to better your situation". Do what you can and in time see what happens...

Of course they are building less efficient vehicles. That is what their customers demand.

That is the fundamental of business. If you provide a product or service that others want they buy if from you. If you offer a product or service nobody wants to buy you go out of business... ..... quickly.

What would you build if you were a car company executive?

Here-in lies the problem... Detroit isn't making a vehicle that gets 40-60mpg and there is a market for them. Does anyone really think we'll ever see sub-$3. 00 gas/fuel prices ever again (sub-$4. 00 ??) ?

The US auto industry has been shackled by high union demands, stock holders demanding high dividends and CEO's with little vision.

So what did they do? Build a big high profit vehicles and market the heck out of it. Make the market think they need this big thing and they will buy it. Remember, the average household size has shrunk considerably over the past several decades, yet we drive bigger and bigger vehicles.

We did it to ourselves. Now its time to work to fix the problem.

friend filled up in Tecate Mexico last week work out to be $2. 00 a us gal. highest in so west corner of girlyman state is $3. 99 per gal. They know when they got ya!!

Just look at all the fueling stations around you posting signs "OUT of DIESEL".

Oh, wait - everyone says that the price is a result of supply and demand. I haven't seen a single station running low on fuel.

The supply and demand part is - WE have the SUPPLY and WE DEMAND that you pay $4. 00/gal for it.

The real problem is all those people buying $7 cups of coffee from Starbucks. If coffee is worth $70/gallon, diesel is worth $4/gallon.

BTW - Jumbo Jet is back. I see the same old stuff taking place in the Politics Forum. I think I will stay away!

Diesel is $3. 65 right now in my fairly rural neck of the woods. Much better than some of you guys but painful for sure. I was surfing around last night seriously considering buying a bio-diesel processor for my garage. Even if it costs $1 gallon to make, and the machine is $2,000 I can still start coming out ahead in less than three months time.

The next concern, already mentioned, is that the WVO I would need might start to become a commodity itself:eek:

I could better understand if gas and diesel were similar in price and rising like it used to be a few years ago... but my local station that I have been filling up for the past few years the price gap on diesel has risen to almost a dollar more per gallon?

Gas 3. 09

Diesel 3. 99

And it appears to be this way at most stations around here lately...

In Warren, RI I just saw $4. 07 for diesel and $3. 13 for ULReg at a Valero. The diesel was $3. 81 this morning so I guess they just had a load dropped. I know we have no control over this except to not buy it. I have to admit that I am starting to get disgusted. Can't wait 'til the next heating oil fill. The last time was over $400 so the next should be over $500.

Because the government runs education, now people want them to run their healthcare and and beat down big business.

Name me ONE program the government is involved in that actually works? People complain all the time yet they want them involved in even more stuff... boggles the mind.

I may not be a smart man but I do know that:

1. When "big business" is brought to its knee's people will complain even more because all their jobs will be gone.

2. We would have already been drilling new oil if it wasnt for the liberal part of our government.

3. I blame the trader's on wallstreet for this price fiasco more than I do big oil.

4. If you had a small business making diesel engines with a 10 or 20% profit and someone like Hilary told you she was going to take it or make you reinvest it to make electric engines, or you were a metal worker and you had to use your profit to explore using plastic... you would be ******. (these are just examples, you can use your own)

sorry if I sidetracked the purpose of the thread, just MHO everyone has one.
