Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 4:10 gears to 3:55

got a few questions on this i have 4:10 gears in my truck and i have 3:55 gears sitting on the shelf form another dodge. im wanting to know when u switch from 4:10s to 3:55's can u put the 3:55's on the 4:10 trac lock without a spacer ring?

You will need a spacer,the ring and pinion are different thickness on 4. 10 and 3. 55.

I just did that swap on My truck, and Yes You can put them on the same carrier, no You do not need A spacer. 3. 54s and 4. 10s use the same carrier, if You go up to 4. 56s it is different or below 3. 54s is diferent but 3. 54 and 4. 10 is not A problem.

I am wondering the same thing. I heard that The 4. 10 and 3. 54 have a different carrier in the Dana 80. I am also looking to swap my 4. 10 for a 3. 54.
