Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Help with KDP in Alaska

A guy at work is saying he can go 120mph in his 2001 4x4 4. 10 Cummins auto.

This truck has a TST and 80hp injectors.



Is this possible or is he full of it?

What is the OD ratio for an auto? Looks like a 6 speed with 33. 2 inch tires would do 105. 6 mph at 3200 rpms.

These numbers are from klenger's spread sheet and are with 265/70/17 tires. I don't know if the '01 engine will rev to 3300 rpm without a spring change or not.



His spedo might say 120 mph, but that doesn't mean he's going that fast. Need to check it with a gps.

My 6 speed with GV overdrive, 314 tires, 4. 10 gears, would do about 120 maybe a little more. With out the Overdrive I can only do around 100.

110MPH is all she wrote. Mine maxed out at 122MPH with a 3. 54 rear end, which would be a little over 3300rpm!

105 and mine is stock to the bone and it had plenty of pedal left, after reaching said speed i backed out as it began to float, the mountain highways arent' built for that in a 7000lb truck. :--)
 
Man you guys are alot braver than me!!!

In Dad's truck (the 98. 5 w 4. 10's) I feel like i'm gonna blow somthing up if I hit 90 :eek:

My truck has 3. 54's and I've only taken it up to 105.
 
With the truck in my sig... ... ..... Stock 235's... ... ... . 102. 5 mph and thats dyno and 1/4 mile verified. At 3/4 track I am smacking the limiter for the rest of the run.

What is your 1/4 mile time and speed! That thing must be an animal :--)
 
I just ran 115-120 against a D-Max yesterday. It was still accelerating when I jumped off but it was close to the max, I didn't look at the tach because the wife was telling me to get in the other lane and pass him :)



Don't forget auto have more rev's than the manuals due to OD differences.

My reason was out of curiosity as to if it would do that, well that answered my question really quick, with the right momentum and enough straight away these truck will fly. Would i do it again, No! that was a test run and that was it.
 
110 w/my 98.5 3500 5 spd

Miss that ride, my kid tried it out 4 weeks ago as I found it at a dealer in Fond Du Lac, Wis. doin a search for trucks for him. Stock truck except for 235's replacing stock 215's... That truck would wind up to 3700 on the meter but who knows how accurate that was?



I once was coming down Hy 55 thru the Reservation which is a snake trail w/very few areas to pass and I'm following this middle-aged biker dude on an older Harley that kept goin from 50 to 70 and I had to make tracks to get home for an appointment. Well finally I comes to a stretch in the road where I can see clear for over a half mile and I goes down a notch on the gear selector and starts winding her up. As I am trying to go around this guy he cranks her up! Well I wound her tight in fourth and same in fifth and when I got clear of him and back on my side of the road I was right at 110.



I bet that long-haired deciple of the easy rider era got to the next bar and probably downed a doubler cause he couldn't believe what just happened to him. Too bad I couldn't make that truck smoke like my current ride. :D
 
Don't you hate when pple do that crap!!!! I know sometimes we are rushed for whatever reason and would rather just be able to take our time driving as crazy as pple are on the highways anymore but its pple like that which cause some of the road rage we had today doing junk like that, he got his just do's on that one.
