Shock Absorbers for Towing

Going To Alaska 2005

With the invention of the 325 horse CTD, I think the thoughts of this motor liking higher revs will start to catch on. Old habits are hard to change.

Looking for some advice - let me first say that I'm impossible to please,

just ask my wife! I just consider it a symtom of my job - tool and diemaker

anyhow, my truck when loaded in 6th is a dog, and downshifting to 5th

raises the buzz factor to an uncomfortable level. I like to run 65mph loaded

and get maybe 70-75mph run at hills. I don't have a lot of weight, but do

seem to have a lot of air drag. It feels like it runs into a wall about 70.

My question - change to 4. 10 gears or just overpower the hill with mild

injectors and an EZ? I have stock 235/85/16's and don't want shorter tires.

I don't do much unloaded highway running anymore, just 6-8 miles a day

at 60-65. Also truck seems geared to high when in 1st or rev- feels like it will

run 20mph in rev at idle when I'm trying to reverse into tight spot w/mirrors

and not slip clutch. Any thoughts appreciated. see my sig. for load I carry.

So much advice. Makes you wonder how much is actual eperience and how much is not. I operate my 04. 5 3500 quad 4X2 Short box for a living. I average 22,000 miles per month, and pull primarily 48' Gooseneck trailers, but will haul anything. I have a Juice attitude, stage II Intake, and some cool electronics. I operate my truck on level 5 at all times, have only changed the fuel filter once, but check it weekly. Have flushed the auto transmission once at 45,000 miles and change the oil every 30,000 whether it needs it or not. I get 25. 7 running empty at 65 and when loaded at 11,500 average 14. 5 - 16. 2 dependant on wind conditions. My usual run is Indiana to LA. So, to answer your question. Go with more power. I get 0% slip, and great gas mileage with the 3. 73 and when I want to play, my truck is doing 0-60 in 6. 1 at under 3,000 feet and over 3,000 I can break 6 seconds, My usual running weight for the truck is just over 8,300 pounds. Get the HP up and save the fuel mileage.

Just chip it!!!!!!!!!

Tell Lance Armstrong to do the whole tour De France in 20TH gear

The reasons people come up with to chose the wrong gearing

If you are driving 22,000 miles a month that is 1100 miles a day. (drving 5 days a week). And changing your oil every week and a half. That takes a couple hours out of your week. When do you sleep?
