I have run the 4" straight pipe on my 04. 5 its too loud inside the cab!!!

I now run the 5" and it resonates WAY TOO MUCH!! Loud to boot!

Is there any aftermarket 4" or 5" that offer a more reserved sound??

Really a 4" with a nice sized muffler is what I am looking for.

5" is nice looking but too loud!!!

I'm running Rip's 4" system. Nice and throaty at the pipe but you don't hear it with the windows up. You could drop a tennis ball through the muffler

I'm running MBRP 4' turbo back duals, no problem with noise in the cab here and thats with the ole lady riding in it, if there was a problem there would definetly be noise in the cab !!!!!!!!

I've got the MBRP 5" and it was pretty darn annoying until I realized the muffler was resting against one of the factory hangers and vibrating through the whole truck!!!!

After I moved the system to the left a bit... ... :D

I won't tell you everything I tried before I stumbled upon the actual problem!

I'm Obsessive-Compulsive and always WAY over-think things!

Yep that would do it! Did you have any trouble with the install, I had to cut 4" off that 30" piece to clear the shock on the drivers side and make the hangers line up with the stock locations I had to bend the muffler hanger around some to get it in, other than that, I like it :) !

I bought a Dynaflex resonator for a big truck. 5" in and out, straight through. Still plenty loud, but got rid of the drone I had with the Big Exhaust system I had prior to the stacks.

Straight thru resonator in place of cat, straight thru muffler, all 4". In the cab sounds like stock, friends on the outside say it sounds like a big rig. Like Sradke also got my setup from Rip.

Hey Bmoeller,, Yes we did!

I run a resonator and a muffler that is turned around (fins pointing back) on my homemade 5" exhaust and I sure like it, sound but not loug and no resonation (drone) on the road.

I didn't have much trouble AFTER I got the old one off!

I didn't have to cut, but had a fun time figuring out the best placement for a couple of the hangers.

Real kicker was, I had to pieces left over, one hanger, and an L-Bracket with a pin-and cotter-pin deal on it... was killing myself trying to figure where the went, finally e-mailed MBRP describing them... got a reply, told me I got a couple of extras, the hanger was for a D_Max, and the L-Bracket had them baffled, only thing they could think of is it is a part for a snow-removal machine!!... LOL

In my opinion the only way to go is MBRP from Diesel Performance Parts out of Nashville, TN. I have their cat back 4inch single stainless pipe with a 5inch double wall 409 stainless tip. At normal loads it is only a little louder than stock, no drone!, and and when you put your foot into it the sound is deep and loud. I am very satisfied with DPP and their customer service and would recommend them for the MBRP systems. The owner Mark  is often on this forum (see previous thread 12). Check them out at www.dieselperformanceparts.com or 1 866 455 7788.

I have the HOGG 4inch stainless system, with the 18inch augmentor muffler (turned with the most baffles facing the engine) right behind the down pipe and the 22 inch standard muffler in the stock location. It sounds stock in the cab (slight drone at 1400-1700 RPM, but I never stay at that RPM long... ), but nice and throaty (but not obnoxious) outside. HOGG uses top notch stainless throughout, provides fat band clamps, and is super reasonably priced. I am a much satisfied customer.
