6.0 powerstroke head studs???

I have a question about a block heater for a 4 cylinder ctd that is in a Lull forklift. How do you take out a frost plug to put the heater in? Where are the frost plugs? Is it threaded or do I have to tap something into it and use a slide hammer to knock it out? If anyone can help me I'd appreciate any input, pics, or just good advice.

Plugs are on the turbo side, just use a hammer and punch, drive on the bottom. The plug will twist, then grab with channel locks and pull out. Sand the bore of the hole with emery or something to clean. The best hole is the one behind the starter, that's where we always put them. I can't remember if it's the 1st or 2nd one from the bell housing. I always put a film of silicone on the o-ring, lubricates and helps seal. The heater goes down in, tighten the allen head until it's snug. Don't go crazy! ;)

Hope this helps-

That is exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks a lot for describing everything so well. Where would you recommend buying the heater? NAPA?

I'd go to a Cummins, Case, or Case/IH dealer. Then you get the one that goes in there, and know it 's right. I guess NAPA is ok, I haven't seen one of their heaters to comment.
