Hello All, I was hoping someone could give me some info. on the best place to get a 4" downpipe for my hx35 or if it will help my towing egt. Back when I put the 4" straight exhaust on the truck I was told that it would not make a differance to change my down pipe (and the foot and a half) of the old 3 1/2". I have now been told that it will help with my towing egt issue so I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks for the help, Robert

I don't know where the Banks PP puts you at power wise but I would say a better turbo would be in order if you really want to help EGTs. Switching from your stock downpipe to a 4" isn't going to make a big difference especially if you still have the 12cm housing. You'd benefit more from a hybrid turbo to reduce EGTs without impacting spoolup or drivability to any degree. But there's other turbos with better breathing on the exhaust side with 4" outlets that I would pick over a hybrid.

Vaughn, Thanks for the help. I will start digging through all the turbo info. and check into going that route.

Thanks again, Robert

Vaughn, I can not seem to find definative info. on the hybrid turbo's your talking about. Any advice on who or what to look at.

Plus anyone else who has had experience with the hybrids, please feel free to chime in with your likes and dislikes as well.

Thank you, Robert

bmoeller, Thanks for the advice and the links. I will give them a call and see about getting a little more flow without hurting my already slow spool up. Now that my hydro booster is leaking onto my floor mat I think I better get that changed first and then deal with my turbo.

Thank you again, Robert

I'm not a 12V guy, but how can you have slow spool-up with 4. 10s and a Hx35? Just a question, not trying to be sarcastic... .

JFlagg, No sarcasm taken. As this is my first DSL I am still getting this all figured out. On second thought I believe you are right, the lag is probably because of my transmission. I am used to old Chevy big blocked trucks with the old granny box in them (no lag what so ever). I ventured into the Cummins world for the towing power that we had in the ranch truck. As soon as I have the cash for an upgraded auto or a new truck with a manual transmission I think i will have to limit my race'n to the old Chevy. I think the term on here is "Too broke to Bomb"..... I appreciate any input good, bad or otherwise. Never too old to learn. Thank You, Robert
