Trying to decide between going with #1. A complete 4" system from turbo back, Allied free flow muffler and no CAT OR#2. To save at least a few hundred bucks and go with a CAT test pipe (no CAT) same 4" Allied muffler with existing head pipe and tailpipe.

At my moderate HP level, I don't know that I would benefit from any EGT reduction by going complete 4". I do think that either way I will benefit from some EGT reduction by losing the CAT and adding a free flowing muffler.

I am trying to justify if it is worth spending the extra $$ for a complete 4" or if I would basically have the same thing with option #2.

Thoughts, comments, reccomedations? Thanks

I think all you would really gain with a complete 4" is a deeper exhaust note. IF it were me, I'd spend that few hundred dollars on some other goodies like a GSK or a couple extra tires. ;)

If you don't NEED to lower your EGTs (how high are they?)keep those duckies in your pocket. I pull a 9000#TT faster than I should with no EGT problems. Stock exhaust , missing kitty. With the money you save, send Piers a check for the 3k-GSK instead. Much more bang for your buck. No doubt about it. Just ask Matt. :p

If you plan on staying at 275 HP level I would not change anything. Maybe just gut the CAT and replace the muffler with a straight thru design.

Call Piers (604 888 4159) ... . order the Governor Spring Kit... . and maybe a plate if you have the need. He'll give you all the recommendations you could ever need..... I know it will be the best $125 you will ever spend on your truck.

The 4" exhaust is a waste of money unless: 1) you want the sound... . (they do sound really NICE!) 2) you have a bigger turbo with a larger exducer... . such as a B1 or an HX-40 3) you are at or near 400+ horsepower (at the wheels)

Save your bread for modifications that will increase fueling..... EGT reductions are nice... but at your current power level... . a 4" is a waste of time/effort. 550rwhp has been done with a 3" system... turbo to tail... straight-piped.

Matt
