Which is the best 4" exhaust brake system? Is there any good exhaust brake systems out there? Also, I got a brand new 4" SS exhaust pipe from Stan's Headers and once that is installed, there is no room for the engine brake anywhere but under the cab. Where have others installed their systems?

I have a 1992 Dodge Cummins W250 Extended cab.

Roy,

I just finished going through this about 6 weeks ago and decided that 4" was the way to go, and that after reading about all of the different brakes available, I went with a PRXB Pacbrake. As for how it works, I cannot answer that as the truck is not finished yet, but from the info I got it works the best.

Also it is remote mount, as in under the truck, and if you already have air on your truck as I do, the kit direct from Pacbrake was only about $900. 00. US I hope this helps,

I didn't have on board air at that time--it is electric with a giant solenoid to activate. They claim that their brake slows at lower rpm's than other brands, but I can't speak to that. The other advantage is that the housing is bigger than 4 inches, so the brake valve doesn't reduce the flow when open.

How did the installation go on the US Gear D-Cellerator and PRXB Pacbrake? (Easy or Hard) I have not installed the 4" pipes yet. I'm still waiting for PDR-HX35 with a 14cm wastegated housing from PDR. Hope to have them soon. I would like to install them at the same time.

Roy,

The US Gear brake was very simple (the installation and other information is at usgear.com, then select product D-Celeraror Diesel Exhaust Brake) you can just cut a portion out of your present exhaust pipe, or as I did, I installed it at the same time that I found my muffler and cat had disappeared. The hardest part was pushing the wires through a grommet in the firewall.
