I would not recomend havening the ex ahead of the tires. Having The hot ex gases blowing on the tires tends to heat them up.
After market ex resonance is present in some trucks and not others and has been discussed here. Some have it with Banks, Jardine, BD, DD and others.
Do a search on this subject and you will find info.

I'm running a 4" exhaust turned out in front of the rear tire also. I do have the Walker #22572 muffler on as well, with NO resonance. Stock hanger was use on the new muffler(welded) and a stock hanger was relocated and attached to the tail pipe. Very pleased with my setup, sound is deep, lots of turbo whistle and easy on the ears at interstate speeds. The rear wheel dose 'soot' just a bit, about the same as the brake dust on the front wheels.

Best of all the cost for this set up, including installation was LESS than $250. As far as heating the tire... ... ... I guess I drive to fast. #ad

I'm not concerned with heating the tires up. I drive interstate 99% of the time. How much back pressure does the Walker create?

I currently have the Jardine 4" and have more ressonance that I like. I have used the Walker 4" before and was very pleased with the sound and performance. I am going to replace the current muffler with the Walker.
 
Looking back over some of the old posts, I see alot of people clamping a piece of angle iron to there exhaust pipes and mufflers. I'm gonna give it a shot, 'bout the cheapest "BOMB" I've heard of yet! #ad

I am running an open 4" exhaust straight pipe turning out at a 45 right in front of the duals, the 5" tip is angled towards the lower part of the tire. I have a really bad resonance at 1800-1900 RPM. Does anybody else have this same setup? How about a 4" open pipe turning out behind the rear tires, does that still resonate? Is a muffler the only thing to clear up the resonance? My old truck was a 3" installed the same way as the new and it didn't resonate at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! #ad

Well, the angle iron didn't make any difference at all. How much back pressure and restriction would the 4" Walker muffler add to my system?

Went on a camping trip with a guy with a 460 Ford 1 ton gasser who had his exhaust pipe exit in front of his rear tire. It heated up the tire so much that it blew to pieces on the freeway. He has since got his exhaust system to exit behind his rear wheel.
 
I'm not the guru, just a average Joe, but i would expect considerable resonance with the setup you described and would suggest putting a walker bullet race muffler on #24217. i used this on my 95 as a muffler & resonator eliminator, and it worked well with (if you can see a picture of it) very little restriction. its 16 1/2"L and 5"D with 4" in/outlets. it cost 35 bucks from summitracing.

Powder Extreme, I know this isn't much help but my stock exhaust resonates at 1700rpm and that is with a muffler and resonator. How much of your pipe is absolutely straight? I remember this subject came up about a year or so ago, and one of our excessively educated members gave a short informative dissertation on straight pipes and resonance. Something about the harmonics in a section of straight pipe causing the pipe to sing etc. etc. Would the GURU please post and be recognized! #ad
