2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 4" Exhaust; Which is best?

I am looking to replace the stock exhaust with a 4" turbo back system.

Looking for recommendations. I want the flow without excessive noise.

The wife drives it to school every day and doesn't want a lot of noise.

Ditto on the MBRP, I have the low end stainless (I think it is 409 Stainless) ... great system, easy install, I used the supplied muffler and it is throatier in sound but not much louder inside the cab than the standard system.



It took longer to get the old one out than it did putting the new one in.

My wife didn't notice I had a new exhaust until she saw the box in the dumpster. I noticed a little more noise, but not a lot. It is most notice able at highway speeds. I would get another mbrp if I had another truck.

I can only hear the difference in noise if I roll down the window, and then only at excelleration. No added noise at highway/cruising speed. If you don't need stainless, I would recommend the savings by going with aluminized.

I am with TPCDrafting! I have a Rips Rooks Straight Pipe on my truck. No drone and not much louder than stock especially at highway speeds. Dont get me wrong you can give her hell and you can really hear it, but thats about it.

Rip Rook's 4" with his standard muffler. I bought a resonator also because I didn't want it to sound any louder than stock, never installed it. The truck sounds perfect, I love the sound. He knows these trucks and their exhausts well.

I got my MBRP SS T409 4 in exhaust a little over 1 year ago from www.xtremediesel.com because shipping was free so it was about $50 cheaper.



The hardest part was removing the old exhaust. Don't use a hacksaw or you will be sorry... . use a Sawzall... Don't ask me how I know.



I'd use 4 in band clamps from NAPA for $10 apiece in place of the exhaust clamps which crimp the pipes.

The guys are right the MBRP has them all beat hands down. You get 100% welded hangers that re use the sotck rubber mounts, makes install real easy and you don't have any ugly clamp hangers that tend to rust pretty fast too. The muffler is packed with a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool and sounds great with a nice deep rumble and tone. You can get duals too if you want. The MBRP will cost you a little more but when you compare you'll see the differences etc.

HOw did you guys go about the Exhaust Tip? Does the regular kit price include the tip or does it have to be purchased seperately??

It has to be purchased seperatly on the aluminumised and the 409 stainless kits ... I dont use a tip on my 409 stainless system, the tailpipe polishes up real nice and looks good if you ask me, will try to get a pic for you later today of mine without a tip

I wouldn't touch any Banks soft ware with a ten foot pole.



However their exhaust systems are awesome. Did a will call on the turbo back system here in So Ca. It bolted right up with an excellent sound, no drone, throaty AWESOME.

I have the MBRP on my 96 and very happy with quality and ease of installation. I did buy the rear hanger bracket neccessary for the 94-97 trucks. I have also installed Magnaflow on a Dodge dually and equally happy with fit and finish. Both companies ask specifically cab and box of your truck. You do not get universal kit with clamp on brackets and extra pipe for long wheelbase chassis.

Well, I broke down and bought the Magnaflow turbo back. It was tight going on but it doesn't seem any louder than stock in normal driving. I only have about 60 miles on it and figure it will mellow out . I'll find out soon enough. Monday we hitch up and head out on a 2000 mile vacation.
