I purchased a 4" Magnaflow exaust for my truck. Haven't put it on yet. One question... Will Dodge hassle me on engine warranty issues with the bigger exaust? Of course, I will take off any Mods before taking it in?

I think the answer to that is "it depends". It depends mainly on what dealership you deal with. They all seem to have different criteria on what voids a warranty. The service manager at the dealership where I bought my truck told me that my entire driveline warranty would be voided in their computer the next time I came in due to the fact that I now was running 255/85 tires. They are just slightly over stock. He wasn't trying to be a jerk, he just said they were getting pressure to do it that way from now on. They were told to look out for non-stock tires and enter that into the computer. He told me that once it is in the computer, it doesn't matter where I take it, it will show up. Needless to say, I never went back again. I think the chances are slim, but it's up to you to take that chance. They could probably justify not covering a turbo problem for example. People will say "They have to prove that the falure was caused by what you did according to the Magnusen Moss act. " The problem is, they deny the coverage, and then it is up to you to hire an attorney etc. I think D/C should have consistent policies about this stuff as it causes lots of cutomer service problems. When I bought my truck, they were willing to let me put almost any aftermarket accesory on in order to get it included with the financing. They deliver trucks new with much larger tires than I have all the time. Then, the next thing you know, you don't have warraty coverage for something that was installed on your truck before you took delivery!

Thanks for listening ;)

Thanks Dave, I am finding out thru the postings that there is alot of inconsistencies between dealers. At UPS ,where I work, I have a saying for alot of the BS they try to enforce with no backing in the policy book or our Union contract. That saying is "Rule of the day". Thanks, Chris

I have had my truck in twice since i had the Jannetty 4" exhaust and they never said it was a problem. Only if the problem was caused by your modification would they hassle you.

I have had my 4in Magmaflow for a year now,During this time D/C have replaced the NV 4500 transmission& Clutch . The only thing they had to say was stop using Amsoil in the transmission. I have a lot of mods on our 99 3500 plus we tow over loaded :cool:a 4in tube to let the eng breath how can that hurt the drive line? I even leave my magic box in. Maybe I be lucky? ;)Besides taking the mods out before you take the truck in for work, they have a WORD for that:eek:

Hey Clem, did you tell them you were using Amsoil in the transmission? and if so, what is there reason for why you should'nt use it?

Tell your "stealer" to put the "Warranty Voided" in Writing! And insist upon it! By law, no one but the manufacturer can void your warranty, and it has to be done in writing!

I get so disturbed when these guys try to do this. One time a customer of mine went to his Toyota stealer, and was told his warranty was voided because he used a synthetic oil in the engine. Well, I personally went to his stealer and spoke with the person as well as his boss and told them to "put it in writing", and they started to "back pedel" pretty fast!

Also I bought a new (in 96) Seadoo watercraft and dealer told me I had to use their oil in order to keep warranty. I called the 800 customer service number to verify, and the guy on the other end of the phone said "They can't tell you that" You can use any kind of oil you want as long as the oil meets our specs! Went back and told the seadoo dealer what I did, and they too "back pedeled" Been using what I want since, and no problems.
