Just finished replacing the #4 injector line, for the second time. First replacement was May of this year, about 30,000 miles ago. Did I install the last one improperly, did I get a bad replacement, or do I just have bad luck? I think I need to buy another one and keep it for a spare, if they go out that fast! Is there any warranty on replacement parts? I need to find out. Not much fun trying to talk your wife in going to the dodge dealer, picking up the part, and then driving about 50 miles out into the oilfield to deliver it. Got it done and am at home now.

The up dated line should be a silver color. The most important thing is to be sure when you install it there is no bind on the line with the fittings or the insulating mount

The hold down bracket was different. I was able to start the nut on the injector side, then the nut on the rail and run them both down with my fingers and then tighten both. The hold down bolt went right in without having to move anything around. I really couldn't see if it was touching before I tightened it as I was working with a flashlight by then. Maybe I'm set for another 120,000 miles and not 30,000.

I don't know if it the newest, but it doesn't have the blue plastic thingy. Also, the replacement I put in back in May was covered under warranty for 12 months or 12,000 miles, so it was out. Not too many people I know that drive diesel rigs put that few miles per month.

I put a new #4 on early last year but apparently they came out with a newer one right after that. I haven't broken one but thought I'd head it off and keep the orig. in the truck just in case.
My truck has an easy life too. I put about 5K a year on it.

The latest version does NOT have the blue insulator. It has a round black one under the new bracket that looks like a piece of hose. Shad

How much did the line cost you at the dealer ? Mine went broke yesterday driving down the interstate and leaving me with a $170. 00 tow bill home.

It was right at $80 with tax. I was able to call my wife and have her pick one up at the local dealer and she handed it off to a welding buddy of mine who took it the other 20 miles to where I was broke down. I figure I saved around $1000 plus by being able to change it out on the side of the road. The tow bill would have been $200, 10 hours overtime lost, if I fixed it the next day, and no telling how many hours lost, if I had to wait on the dealers backlog of work orders.

Price it out at Cummins. Even up here is about half that. I realize when you are broke down " ya gotta do what ya gotta do ", but I never buy Cummins parts from a Dodge dealer. Shad

Maybe I'm missing something but I just got on Geno's and they don't have the number four line for an '03 listed. Either they're out or they don't have the upgraded line. I'm pushing 170,000 on the original and after doing some reading you guys have got me nervous... lol. Guess I can stop by the ******* on the way home and see what he's charging.

Here's a list I pulled together that appears to be current - I know #4 and #6 are right and yes - the Geno's list didn't include #4 but called them and they have it as well. Picture below is what #4 looks like now. I believe Geno's price with delivery came to $34-35.
