I recently checked on a 4-link with air bag rear suspension from Kelderman.
Looks like a very good set-up but sure is pricey. Does anyone know of another set-up that will retain stock height, support the weight, and not wheel-hop?
You can check Air Ride Technologies they advertise a 4 link for under 2k. I have not called them about it though. They advertise being able to lower a truck and still carry a load. Not sure if their system keeps the factory ride height or not. The only difference between the two systems is the air bag size and the name. By the way I have been to Keldermans site and it says the 4 link is not available for 2wd if thats what you have.
I don't think it would be hard to weld up a rear system that incorporates using the rear receiver hitch as a pivot point to add an airbag if you undo your rear shackle on your leaf spring. I have been thinking about doing that for some time. My truck is a 2wd as well and I would want to maintain my normal ride height.
Why not just add a set of Ride-Rites and a set of Tuff Country traction bars? It would certainly carry whatever weight you wanted and the little Tuff Country bars effectively turn the rear suspension into a 4 link, at least on a 3rd gen. Might not work as well on your 2nd gen with the lift blocks.
I have also thought about installing an air ride on my truck. Nicer ride an dit will keep the nose from going up in the air when I load it down. One suggestion is to watch what they use for a tortion bar. I doubt someone would ever have this problem on these trucks, but the trucks we haul silage with have KW 4 bags and the farmer said they go through about 3 tortion bars a year. Granted these trucks are running through fields as fast as we can loaded with a high center of gravity. But a thought as I bet the "Bridge" on the Air Ride Technologies suspension is suppose to be the tortion bar and the only way to fix it would be to re weld it or replace the whole suspention.
Just some thoughts of things to look for, an din case you are woundering those bars for the KW ar enot cheap, 3-4K a piece and scarry as H%&L when they break.

how good are you with a tape measure and a cutting torch. i built 4links 1st dodge was rather easy just take your time and measure it out twice cut once. i put coils in mine but air bags could be just as easy.
