I have a part number for a drop in replacement fuel filter for the HPCR systems 04. 5-06. I called Donaldson they stated they make a 4 micron fuel filter that is a drop in replacement. I also called Amzoil because they sell them and ask the tech line the same question, the guy stated it was a 4 micron filter as well.

I thought maybe someone may be interested in this product.

The part number for the Donaldson filter is P550-430

I paid about $19. 50 from Amzoil commercial price.

I can't make any promise as to the filtration quality or claims but both companies are pretty reputable.

I am on my third filter, my only remark is that the filters seem to plug up slightly faster than I expected because my pickup will start to start hard after several months. As soon as I change the Fuel filter the problem will stop. This may be a good thing in the long run as the filter may actually be filtering down to 4 micron and just plug up sooner.

Hope this helps

That is an interesting find. Maybe someone else will chime in who has had experience with this filter cause it could definately help prevent injector issues.

I would like to see the specs on this filter. Is this 4 microns absolute? If not, at what efficiency is it filtering at 4 microns?

before i had the fass i used it with great success, it works well if you want to keep the stock filter assembly, some people just want the best and the donaldson drop in is it. no customer complaints.

I'm sure it's a nominal rating, but then again I'm sure the Fleetguard is nominally rated also at 7 microns.

I'd rather have a nominally rated 4 micron -vs 7 micron as long as the filter construction is good. I'd like some more info. on this filter.....

It sounds like your filter is working well. However, if your changing filters every couple of months, I wonder if the station you're getting your fuel from is selling dirty fuel?

I have a 2 micron, Caterpillar filter on my aux. fuel tank & have never had to change the filter. The vast majority of the fuel the engine sees goes through that filter. The Cat filter is substantially larger than the stock-sized filter but, I thought it would have clogged-up sooner than this. I'm using Flying J fuel, here, in Phoenix, AZ. They go through A LOT of fuel so, the tanks may be cleaner.

Thanks for the good information on the Donaldson (Amsoil) filters.

Can you tell me if the filter housing is different from the 2004 to the 2004. 5 ? I guess I have not looked under the hood of anything newer than my 04. Thanks

Four Micron Filter

Are you sure it is a four micron filter? If you bring it up on line it shows it cross references a fleetguard number which is a 10 micron filter.

TTT. Keeping this one close to the top so others can give more information. Seems strange the Amsoil peddlers haven't jumped all over this one. Would make a great selling product.

If you are referring to the FASS, they are absolute at 3 micron and 95% at 1 micron (the HF6604s)...

But I agree, I would suspect the "4 micron" filter is a nominal rating too...

I installed the GDP 2-micron system on my truck, it was very easy to do. I bought the remote mount and the big line kit. It is a quality kit, quality parts, everything went together just like the instructions stated. The filter says 'for 2 micron applications' does not indicate if it is absolute or nominal. Somewhere down the line I am going to get the Walbro kit from them as well. Great people too.

The part number for the Donaldson filter is P550-430

I just tried to order one and my amsoil dealer told me they were on national backorder.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?... ..... I have a 07 drw 3500... . 5. 9... . g56..... LOOKING FOR THE BEST STOCK... . LOWEST MICRON FUEL FILTER that will fit my stock setup... ... . fuel here central Georgia can be some of the dirtiest around... ... trucksalesdave

I went to the Donaldson web sight... and the part number P550-430 doesn't turn up... . but the correct part number of P550430 does turn up as a fuel filter for our trucks... .

It however doesn't say if its a 4 micron filter or not... . I've emailed them, asking that question... we called our local Donaldson Dist... . they have it on the shelf but don't know the micron level it protects to..... They said. . "" we just sell them ""

From Donaldson on the email..... this is NOT a 4 Micron Filter... they didn't offer another option

The P550430 specs are below. The absolute efficiency (98. 67% on the the first pass through the filter, Efficiency Beta 75 ) is listed as 10 micron. We do not have information on the nominal efficiency (50% on the the first pass through the filter) but it would be a lower number.

Ok So I have some more information about this "4" micron filter.

I did some more research and the filter is basically the same one as fleetguard is selling 7 micron. The 4 micron is not an absolute rating.

I was also told that SOME NAPA filters are made by fleetguard and they have a 7 micron rating but some are 10 micron. Sorry for any false information here but it is hard to get a straight answer from some of these companies.
