4 or 5 inch exhaust

Wondering which one seems to be louder?

Also how does the 5 inch fit? (spare tire or any other objects that might cause trouble). This will be on a 3rd gen.

If you want loud then just run a 4. 0 inch straight pipe system, the 5. 0 inch systems will only hurt your bottom end torque unless you at or over 500 RWHP. We have a lot of customers that get a muffler delete pipe to make the system as loud as possible, personal preferences!!

is there really any reason to replace stock 4" exhaust? I have a 04. 5 on order and I'm under the assumption that the exhaust is 4" already. Iwould believe that the muffler would be the one thing to replace. Are the new exhausts 4" turbo back?

It's not all 4 inch. I think it's 3. 5" until the muffler.

I would still get rid of that cork of a muffler and put on a free flow muff. Oo.

Do what JHardwick did... saw off both ends of the muffler, remove the internals, and re-weld the ends back on. Sounds excellent (not too loud, not too quiet).

i just noticed piers has 5" pipes for 3rd gen trucks on sale for jan/feb... i was thinking 4" but the price for the 5" is pretty good
