O. K. I am tired of hearing my wife complain. I know its sacreligious but I need to do something about my exhaust. She thinks that its just too loud to go on trips, I do not think its that bad but when mama's not happy no body's happy. I have a Rip Rook 4" system that is about a year and a half old with a stock 97 dodge muffler and a 4" bullet muffler installed(still not quiet enough for her). Its in good shape and could have any muffler or pipe added for a straight exhaust if a guy wanted. I would like to see if anyone has a CC truck with a COMPLETE NOT RUSTED OUT stock exhaust. If so PM me and we'll talk.

I've got a short cab with a new (like a month ago) stock exhaust on it. To make it work with your club cab, just add a pipe to it, not that hard. I'll PM you, as well.

Scott

I'll be glad to help you out, I have a 71k mile stock exahaust.

You tell me and I'll pay shiping both ways and plus for your 4" pipe to make it worth your time

thanks

:-laf :-laf

So what makes you so special??

Remove the muffler and you won't hear her. :D

Turn up the stereo.

You should be able to find a quieter muffler... . my Janetty system is pretty quiet... no drone at highway speed.

Yep ... Jay is right I would keep adding FREE FLOWING mufflers/resinators till it quieted down. But if that deosnt work I'll be glad to assist how ever I can

I've got a 4" system with a huge Donaldson muffler (>36"). Quiet as stock; nice "burble" from the tailpipe at idle. No diff in cab regardless of speed vs my old stocker. Rip's carry's all, so give him a call.

I had a donaldson on it that I got from Rip not sure of the length but it had very bad drone. I talked to Rip and got a smaller bullter muffler and installed that as well and it is still very loud. Then I had the donaldson removed all togther and put a 97 dodge muffler on it and it still is very loud. With the stock exhaust you could hold a conversation without yelling and thats what I need to get back to. I have about $500 dollars into it and I am not screwing with it anymore. The EGT benefits are nice but not worth it for me anymore. Thanx to all who replied. Danny

Hmmmm. Makes me think I have too much engine noise in the cab. I can't hear my exhaust at all over the Cummins. I'd like to hear the exhaust in the cab, and have contacted Rip to see if he can tweak my existing system (I bought it originally from Stan's Headers (very high quality but spendy with the install)). The muff on my truck nearly as big as my fuel tank. I'd like a little more growl; 'course, now I have a sleeper - until I leave a cloud :-laf

My wife is very noise senitive. In all the miles we have driven in my rig, she has yet to complain. It has terrible drone @ certain rpm's and is very loud. It's best driven with the windows down as the drone (windows up) will nearly make your ears bleed!

Full 4" system/side pipe with zero restiction devices.

Danny, in looking at these posts and thinking about the exhaust I was telling you about (mine), I can say one thing about my truck. It is quiet. I have a large glass pack on my truck. That is it. I can't honestly tell you if it has a drone or not? I don't think so as I recently took a 6 hour trip in the truck and the only thing that hurt afterwards was my a**!

My buddy who went on the trip with me thought the truck was a little loud, but we used normal conversational tones throughout. Just a thought...
