4" stosk or 4" after market?

4" stock or 4" after market?

Is there a big difference in going to a 4" after market exhaust? Is it worth the $?

I am just running the stock 4" with the cat and muffler gone. I wouldn't think there would be a whole lot of power change with a aftermarket 4". Just sound. It is also a lot cheaper to bomb your stock one. I think I paid $50 at the muffler shop.

Mine is pretty loud but I like it :-laf



I also have the silencer ring removed with a cold air intake. Sounds like a jet taking off.

Any problem getting the stock cat off?

Muffler shop cut it all off and welded a 4" pipe in place from the front cat to the back of muffler.

No cat on my truck, They must be required in some states.

If it has a 4" from the turbo back it has a cat in it. All of the 04. 5 and 05 trucks have cats. Before the 04. 5 (600) the exhaust was not a true 4" it was 3. 5" to the muffler and then 4" on out. And they did not have cats. If that is your case, then a true aftermarket 4" kit would give you some gain.

Now that is the kind of info I am looking for. I have a 03, and would you know the gain

by goining to a after market 4".

The stock exhaust is 4 inch but it is not mandrel bent so it doesnt stay a tru 4 inch throughout the bends. With that said most just replace muffler with high flow muffler with or without a resonator the aeroturbine sounds pretty cool

I don't know the exact numbers but I would say you should be able to feel the difference, and probably see a 50 - 100 EGT drop.



I could feel the difference by just modding mine and EGT's dropped 50 degrees.

Do you think their is a difference in brands? I think the cost is close to all the

way across the board. I like the fact that the EGT will go down. And a cooler

engine makes more HP.

Can't answer that one for you. If were you I would just check out all of the brands that the dealers have a link on this site. They are probably all pretty equal. Except some will be stainless steel and some will aluminezed neither will rust, the stainless just looks a little better, but you will pay for it. Also do a search on this website, uou should get pleantly of info.
