I have a '95 auto and want/need some performance upgrades. I have heard success from people with the #6 and #5 plates. I have also read that some think the #10 is best. What is the reasoning behind the opinions? I also hear that the #4 is best for older trucks with a injector, turbo, plate upgrade. Please help a rookie out.

Thanks,

Aaron :D

The # 10 is good for EGT control and makes decent power in your truck.

The #4 makes alot of power, but it also runs high EGT's at upper rpm's. The #4 definitely has more high-rpm power than the #10.

Both of these plated work well with governor springs.

Hope this helps.

How far forward does the #10 plate have to be pushed forward to make lots better than stock power with an otherwise untouched motor? Moving the stock plate forward made a respectable improvement, just not enough. More top end power would be nice. With 4. 10 gears, highway crusing rpm is about 2250 w/out a trailer. EGT's are not currently a problem. The highest I can get pre-turbo without a trailer is 1000 before I get going too fast for Johnny Law (about 85).

Can the #4 be used with a stock turbo and injectors? Someday after I recover from the trans upgrade, I plan to change the turbo and injectors.

AWray,

To get a GOOD power improvement, either grind down your stock plate or just pull it out. You'll want to get the pump timing upped a little bit (say to 18* or so) and get a Governer Spring Kit put into it. That will make it rev MUCH smoother and quicker and improve the throttle response tremendously. Then it'll just be a matter of getting more fuel into cylinders (i. e. injectors)
