Up until recently, I was planning on adding a set of stacks someday, but now I'm leaning more towards a full length exhaust system due to decreasing bed space. I've heard that most times, 4" will actually perform slightly better than 5". My main concern is the sound. I'll be running it straight piped. Does the 5" sound that much better, or different than the 4"? I'd go 5" but I was eyeing up Rip's 4" turbo back, dual outlet exhaust. Its hard to beat the price, and its the only aluminized dual outlet system I've seen yet. I'd like to cap it off with Silverlines "black" chrome tips. What do you all think? Will I be happy with the sound of a 4" system? I've heard that the 5" has a deeper sound to it. My stock 3" exhaust is just to high pitched for my tastes.

HAD a 5" turbo to tail kit. With or without a resonator, I HATED it. The stacks are SO MUCH quieter and sound MUCH better.

really, stacks are quieter? I would have thought having them right there behind the cab would make it even louder, and maybe even resonate through the cab more. Would a 5" exhaust system sound pretty similar to a set of stacks? I love the sound of stacks, but I don't know if I really wanna give the the extra bed space, and since the mitre cut stacks are the only ones I like, I don't really feel like putting up with soot all over my truck and having to throw something over them everytime it rains.

I think the 12v are a lot quiter than the 24v. I was thinking of stacks but think they might be a little loud in the cab. I like my 4" straight pipe exiting in the stock location. I know its loud and can hear it good when I drive next to something, but for the most part its pointed back and I dont have to listen to it when I dont want to.

if you build your exhaust right, a single under-truck will be much quieter INSIDE THE CAB than stacks... if your stacks exit nine miles above the cab, then they might be quieter.

if you use clamps throughout the entire system and don't use any sound deadener, then yes, that 5" straight system will make your ears bleed

a dual system will have a smoother, more mellow sound than a single system
