In my opinion, I feel just the opposite. Our '05 4wd has never failed to go, in or out of 4wd, ever. No delay either. . Just pull the t-case shifter to 4wd, and instant 4wd.
Unlike my '98 12v, you had to kinda be rolling, kinda turning, and wait for the light on the dash to come on.
The '98 got about 18-23mpg, the '05 gets about 18-23.
