Smart move!

Chances are the guy with the 5th wheel would not have ended up across the median if he was not overloaded and probably going too fast. I drive I-5 and I-90 a lot and I see too many pickup/trailer combos going 70 MPH plus which is to too fast even if you are not overloaded. I'm also surprised at the number of rigs that are probably overloaded be several thousand pounds. There are a lot of 35' or so 5th wheels, with multiple slide outs being pulled by SRW rigs. My truck is rated to tow about 13800# which is about a 30' trailer with one slide out.

I concur with most of the above, but our 5'er at 34'8" loaded when we travel is a bit under 13K and has two slides. It isn't one of the 'lite' varieties. To approach 13,800# with a 30 footer with one slide, it would surely have to beabsolutely loaded to the gills.

I sure do like towing it with the dually a lot better than our prior PSD.

I drove through that wreck right after it happened. The pickup was a F350. It looked like he was in the fast lane- comming home from the holiday- probably tired and going too fast. The word was someone cut him off and he lost control. Blew right threw the barrier. That trailer whipped that truck around like a rag doll. It was a pretty sobering site. That truck in my opinion had no business in the fast lane. Now a mom, dad, 7year old boy is dead leaving another child without parents. Still want to pull over weight??
