Once and for all: Does PHORD own Cummins?

I wish that I'd brought my digital camera today!

GM sure is proud of the Duramax/Allison. Price

that combo in a new Chevy duallie crew cab 4x4

and the price is $44,000!! Man! I'm glad I didn't

wait around to buy one of those. I paid $35,000

for my similar (3500 RAM Quad Cab, 4x4 duallie,

Cummins & 5 Spd "SLT") and I thought that was a

load to spend.

The Duramax option was about $4,700, and the

Allison another $1,200. This was at Landmark

Chevrolet in Houston.

NOTE: this price, $44,000, was the MSRP/sticker

price. They also had ADDED another $1,695 for

a "security system" and pinstripe, and then

another $2,000 "dealer markup". Whew! If some

one were dumb enough to pay all that, they're

lookin at... almost FIFTY GRAND! :O

Chris, I hear ya'. But when I bought my 2000 3500 4x4 QC SLT+ it had a sticker of $40,935--now that's not what I paid for it. Invoice was $35,173 and DC had a $2000 rebate on the truck so I got it for $33,173, but a few years ago dealers around here were getting over sticker for these 3500 4x4 QC--so I think with the extra "real doors" $44,000 is probably close.

Now don't get me wrong, as I am MoPar all the way--personally I wouldn't own a chevy truck if they gave me the POS!:D

NUKE GM!!

For the extra $$$ you can do some very nice upgrades and still have paid less and have alot MO-POWA :p :p :p

You know that right now they're just targeting people who want to be the first to have one and don't care how much it costs. These prices will come down. I heard on the radio the other day where the Chevy dealer in Lampases has them marked way down to where they're priced competatively with the Dodges and Fords, not that I would be interested in one or anything.

When the first minivans came out, the dealership I worked for marked 'em up $3000! That was over 15 years ago!

Can you imagine: the most sought after (around here anyway) versions were the "Town & Country"s that had that stylin' fake woodgrain and plastic trim stuck on the sides. When was the last time you saw one of those driving down the street ?

Hey, now, I resemble that remark...

I own a 90 Grand Caravan with fake woodgrain on the sides...

Just wait, yer gonna see a "woodie" version of the PT soon... . :)

Family Vacation

LOL! Whenever I see one of those simulated wood grain paneling on the side jobs, I always think of the Griswalds "National Lampoon's Family Vacation"!
