4500 RPM from HPCR?

hello everyone,



I am a 12 valver, but i have a good friend who is desperately trying to find a way to get his 04 HPCR to rev 4500 rpms. he already runs the TST power max and larger injectors (im not sure how large), he is using the truck for sled pulling. does anyone know if there is a chip or programmer or some way to increase the RPM range on this new engine? i would appreciate any advice, thanks, Dave.

Mark from T. S. T. said one of the guys working for him was playing with some different programming to keep fueling above 3500 ,not sure how far they got but this was 6-8 months ago.

I am in no way a hi-perf expert but what is the all time record for engine speed with any 6B? I seem to remember a very early issue of the TDR where we were all getting our feet wet and a discussion regarding (if I recall) engine braking/ overspeed. In this article it was said that the 6B bottom end will grenade at +/-4100 RPM's. I know that the newer engines have been beefed up, but how far can you push this heavyweight?

Thats what I thought Wayne, I read in some cummins manual somewhere that the 6b loses harmonics at 3800 & will come apart at 4100. But I have seen alot of old 12v turn 3800 & stay together just fine.

The engines wont come apart.

But, some precautionary measures are needed.

Like special valve springs and cross heads which are already available.

I have read on here that some of the pullers run as high as 6000 rpm or at least that the Sheid Diesel Truck runs up there or close to it. I think Piers is building one that is going to as well.

I have tried to get my truck to run higher RPM, it just dies after 3200, how did you get yours to even fuel past 3200??

6000 RPM is the highest I have heard of, from the radical sled pullers. The 4300 RPM is where Cummins says "destructive harmonics" occurs. I think this means that's the RPM you want to avoid, not so much you can't go above it.



But of course the laws of physics are at play, and the faster you go the more likely you are to hurt your motor.

i realize that so bad s*** can happen but thats a risk we take. i as well as many others have seen more than one of these engines take a crap under normal useage, so why not have some fun. we all know that if play you pay, hopefully not too soon though.

Not unless you use RPM as a possessive pro noun, like "What type of RPM's does Vaughn engine turn?" It's Vaughn's engine's RPMs that we are talking about. It's call possessive pro noun I think. Just one of my pet's peeves (or is that my pet peeve )



Plus, RPM means revolution per minute, whereas RPM's denote revolution(s) per minute. Since 6000 is more than one RPM, I'd say "6000 are the highest RPM's that I have heard. . "
